Environmentalism, says Czech President Vaclav Klaus, is the new communism, a system of elite command-and-control that kills prosperity and should similarly be condemned to the ash heap of history.

The provocative Mr. Klaus, an economist by training and former prime minister, said in an interview that today's global warming activists are the direct descendants of the old Marxists who trampled on individual freedoms and undermined free markets in pursuit of a greater good. .........

When a world leader, who grew up under communism, says that "environmentalism is the new communism" everyone ought to sit up and take notice!

Nero played the fiddle as Rome burned.
The band continued to play as the Titanic went down.

As already pointed out Nero started those fires. Likewise, I find your reference to the musicians on the Titanic in extreme poor taste. Those musicians were heros. They played their instruments, at the request of the ship's leaders, to help keep the people calm even when they knew the ship was going down. To compare such a display of honor and valor in the face of certain death to the lie of man-made global warming is extremely offensive.

Klaus isn't a Communist and maybe farther to the right than our two major Presidential candidates. I think he's correct about environmentalism.

Just because a person grows up under the dictators of a communist nation does mean that that person is an "ex-communist." The point is that the man knows communism when he sees it.:BangHead:
