While I kinda have to agree with your assessment, I would like to point out that any terrorist with WMD (NBC) capabilities is scary. But, there may be some that are scarier than islamic extremists.IMHO

I disagree. North Korea apparently already has nukes. There is no evidence to support the contention that Iran is trying to build a nuke and, even if Iran is trying to do so, it is years away from being able to do so.

No, North Korea is the near term threat that we must handle, not Iran. Iran is not a threat to the United States, North Korea is if it gets its long range missile to fly with a nuclear warhead.

Chinese Missiles for Iran
The sanctions also included two large Chinese army firms, China North Industries (NORINCO) and China Precision Machinery Import/Export Corporation (CPMIEC). Both companies have been linked to ballistic and cruise missile exports to Iran. Norinco is currently under U.S. sanctions imposed by the Bush administration with regards to missile component exports to Tehran. <possibly too little, too late - LE comment>

The sanctions follow reports published by Aviation Week and Space Technology that Iran is developing a new, long-range, cruise missile based on the Chinese Silkworm airframe.

Images of the missile, referred to as the Raad, clearly show its design from the Chinese Silkworm. The fuselage, however, has been lengthened, and jet engine intake ducts have been placed forward of the rear control surfaces.
The Raad missile provides Iran with a long-range standoff-attack capability against naval targets. Iranian press reports describe Raad as capable of being ship-or shore-launched. The Raad is reportedly in production.
According to Aviation Week, Iranian Defense Minister Ali Shamkhani was reported saying that Raad had a range in excess of 300 miles.

While the missile appears intended for the anti-ship role, it can be employed as a land-attack weapon. The Silkworm missile on which Raad is based carries a 1,100-pound warhead. This allows the Raad to be fitted with a biological, chemical or nuclear payload.

China is reported to have provided Iran with the technology to produce the HY-2 Silkworm. Beijing has repeatedly said that it would abide by the Missile Technology Control Regime in order to avoid economic and political sanctions required by the MTCR agreements. The nonbinding MTCR requirements restrict ballistic or cruise missiles capable of delivering a 500-kg. payload over 300 km. The performance of the Raad exceeds the MTCR restrictions.

North Korean Missiles for Iran
The Bush administration also imposed sanctions on a North Korean company. The Changgwang Sinyong Corporation of North Korea was sanctioned for supplying Iran with military items.

U.S has previously cited the Changgwang Sinyong Corp. with sanctions for transferring missile technology to the Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) in Pakistan. The Khan Research labs have been cited as a major source of nuclear weapons technology to Libya, Iran, and North Korea.
The Pakistani government has repeatedly stated that their missile program is indigenous. However, the fact is that Pakistani missiles are largely based on Chinese and North Korean technology.

For example, Pakistan's long-range Ghauri missile is an identical copy of North Korea's Nodong missile, and the Pakistani Shaheen I is an identical copy of China's M-9 short-range missile.

Newly declassified documents show that President Bill Clinton personally approved the transfer to China of advanced space technology that can be used for nuclear combat.

The documents show that in 1996 Clinton approved the export of radiation hardened chip sets to China. The specialized chips are necessary for fighting a nuclear war.

"Waivers may be granted upon a national interest determination," states a Commerce Department document titled "U.S. Sanctions on China."
"The President has approved a series of satellite related waivers in recent months, most recently in November, 1996 for export of radiation hardened chip sets for a Chinese meteorological satellite," noted the Commerce Department documents.

These special computer chips are designed to function while being bombarded by intense radiation. Radiation hardened chips are considered critical for atomic warfare and are required by advanced nuclear tipped missiles.

Asian Arms Race Result of Appeasement Policy

The leftist media spin is that the current crisis in North Asia is the result of George W. Bush calling Pyongyang a member of the 'axis of evil.' In reality, the soft-line appeasement policy taken by Clinton against North Korea and China is what has led us to this point.
For example, former Clinton adviser Paul Begala, now serving as a talking head on CNN, claimed that the Clinton administration contained the threat from North Korea. Clearly, Mr. Begala missed the 1990s.

Of course, Mr. Begala simply forgot that Clinton's military chief of staff testified in 1998 that North Korea did not have an active ballistic missile program. One week later the North Koreans launched a missile over Japan that landed off the Alaska coast.

During the early Clinton years, hard-liners and so-called conservative hawks advocated a pre-emptive strike to halt North Korea's nuclear weapons development before it could field an atomic bomb. Instead of taking the hard line, President Clinton elected to rely on former President Jimmy Carter and decided to appease the Marxist-Stalinist dictatorship.

Carter met with North Korean leader Kim Jong-il in Pyongyang and returned to America waving a piece of paper and declaring peace in our time. Kim, according to Carter, had agreed to stop his nuclear weapons development.
The Clinton appeasement program for North Korea included hundreds of millions of dollars in aid, food, oil and even a nuclear reactor. However, the agreement was flawed and lacked even the most informal means of verification.

In return, Kim elected to starve his people while using the American aid to build uranium bombs. The lowest estimate is that Kim starved to death over 1 million of his own people, even with the U.S. aid program.

Axis of Evil and Friends
North Korea was not left all alone in its effort to obtain nuclear weapons. North Korea relied heavily on China, its closest ally, to assist in its all-out effort to obtain the atomic bomb.

Beijing elected to covertly aid its North Asian ally by proliferation. China allowed Pakistan to send nuclear technology purchased from Beijing to North Korea in exchange for No Dong missile technology.

Beijing provided Pakistan with its nuclear weapons technology, including an operational atomic bomb design. Pakistan is now providing North Korea with equipment and engineering to assist in its bomb-making efforts.

The fact remains that North Korea acquired some key equipment for its nuclear weapons program from Pakistan in 1998. The key equipment, including a working gas centrifuge used to enrich uranium, was shipped to Pyongyang in the coffin of the murdered wife of a North Korean diplomat.

The military implementation of the George W Bush administration's unilateralist foreign policy is creating monumental changes in the world's geostrategic alliances. The most significant of these changes is the formation of a new triangle comprised of China, Iran and Russia.

Growing ties between Moscow and Beijing in the past 18 months is an important geopolitical event that has gone practically unnoticed. China's premier, Wen Jiabao, visited Russia in September 2004. In October 2004, President Vladimir Putin visited China. During the October meeting, both China and Russia declared that Sino-Russian relations had reached "unparalleled heights". In addition to settling long-standing border issues, Moscow and Beijing agreed to hold joint military exercises in 2005. This marks the first large-scale military exercises between Russia and China since 1958.

The joint military exercises complement a rapidly growing arms trade between Moscow and Beijing. China is Russia's largest buyer of military equipment. In 2004, China was reported to have signed deals worth more than $2 billion for Russian arms. These included naval ships and submarines, missile systems and aircraft.

According to the head of Russia's armed forces, Anatoliy Kvashnin, "our defense industrial complex is working for this country [China], supplying the latest models of arms and military equipment, which the Russian army does not have". Russia's relations with China are not limited to military trade. In the past five years, non-military trade between Russia and China has increased at an average annual rate of nearly 20%. Moscow and Beijing have targeted non-military trade to reach $60 billion by 2010, from $20 billion in 2004. One of the key components of commercial trade is Russian energy exports to China.
