What are some of the standards you have while looking for a college?

I already did this one, twice, but I'll tel you what I looked for each time:

    First go round:

    excellent vocal performance program

    Second go round:

    strong, balanced academics
    a good library
    learning focused
    small, discussion style classes
student input sought and valued by administration
    good theatre and music departments
    varied activities
professorial interest in students' development as thinkers
    alumni accomplishments post-bac

Those are the things I looked for. Clearly, the first time around, I had a little tunnel vision.

To recommend to my kids (and my church kids) I tell them to look for:</font>
    • Close ties for ministry and service at a Baptist church</font>
    • Strong academic program (accredited)</font>
    • Good campus/facilities</font>
    • Full program of music, drama, intercollegiate sports, intermurals, activities</font>
    • Historic fundamentalist connection, with Bible core or major for all students</font>
    • Sensible but strict rules and policies for moral and godly living</font>
    • Godly, concerned faculty to enhance interaction and growth</font>
    • Grad program for additional study</font>
    • Small, intimate student body but large enough for full program (1000 or so students)</font>
Found it at Maranatha Baptist College in Watertown, Wisconsin. My children all opted to attend part of their college there . . and all graduated from there.
