gb93433 , I already know it's hard to teach without those state credentials and accreditations, and that's fine with me. I don't want nor need them. I understand that after I finish school I may not live in the best apartment or home. Money may be tight. But my God will take care of me as long as I am doing what He wants me to do. It's called faith. God takes care of His children.
I've been in public school my whole life and since my salvation I've wished so many times that I were homeschooled or attended Christian school. I've got a captive audiance all right. They're so captive that on occasion I've been spit at, I've had two tires slashed at the same time, I've had my Bible stolen and hid in a trashcan, I've been followed by the Wicken group, threatened by boys while they pushed me against the wall, and had cigarettes put in my bookbag. Now I know there may have been other's who've had worse, but forgive me if I'm not wanting another public school experince. I think I've had the captive audiance long enough. And any of the "Christians" at that place won't have anything to do with me because they think I'm wierd. I havn't exactly found fellowship.
The further in school I've went, the worse it's gotton. I wouln't put myself or anyone else through public school for anything.
I believe I'll stick with a place that puts emphasis on Bible preaching and teaching, a place that has standards, a place that enforces dicipline, and not only all of that, prepares you to serve the Lord in life.
I'm going to teach in a Christian environment, therefore it makes sense to be trained in a Christian place.
There's nothing wrong with a school that refuses a state's acreditations. I admire them for it. If the school is run from a church, they need to keep in mind the seperation of church and state.
Now, please don't think I'm saying public colleges are evil. I'm not. I've never attended so I don't know (and I don't want to). I just know it isn't the place I need to be. I'm going were the Lord leads, and will continue to do so as long as I'm living and in my right mind. (um, if I had a mind that is.) Yes, I don't like public education, but I base that on my experiance.
Maybe other Christians go to school with no problems. For their sake I hope so, and if someone wishes to continue with going on to a public college, great. Just don't think less of a teacher who comes from an unacredited school than you would a teacher from a public school. If a person has God's hand on their life and training to do it, give them a chance to prove themselves.

    Psalm 1
1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
6 For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

That's what I woulda said, I've personally at public school had the same experiences, except for the tire slashing which has never happened. I have been mocked openly and by the teacher for wanting to be a missionary, I've had very vuglar posters stuck to the front of my locker. Most people in my class have started referring to me as a helpless conservative/Goody two-shoes/the christian girl/Miss Jesus, All of those and if I can keep ONE child from experiencing what I have it will be worth all the trouble, even if it is not accrecitied.

    Abby and Kayla

I am sorry you have had such bad experiences in your high schools. I personally think that public high schools are much more hostile to students who are "different" than state colleges are. My daughter also had bad experiences in high school, as aggravating as they were, they made her stronger. She is now attending Texas A&M and having a great time. A&M is so large, that you have to find a smaller group. Fortunately for her, she has found hers in Campus Crusade, and the thursday night break away ministry (a couple thousand kids, music, message).

Most of those kids who are harrassers are not smart enough to get into college.

Good luck where ever the Lord leads you.

I'd rather go to a christian college, and be at a small school were I can be friends with everyone, or at least try to find everyone and befriend them.

I go to a small Christian university (1500 people) and I love it. And it is acredited. In fact it is one of the best education school in the state. Just because a school is Christian does not mean that is has to be unacredted.

Well I'd have to think about your personal views as a christian, to go to such a school because accreditted schools can't speak out against certain things that non-accreditted ones can. They definenately cannot speak out against homosexuals, and I personally think that we should let the public know that we go by the bible and it says that men should not be with men and women shouldn't be with women.

I don't really like the idea of school accreditation either, though I don't know everything there is to know about it. Neither of my schools are accredited. BJU is seeking accreditation by a Christian agency.

Accreditation in no way guarantees a that a graduate has received a superior education from that institute of higher learning compared to a graduate of an unaccredited college. To claim such would be no more valid a conclusion than to state that a person who possesses a driver's license is, by that fact alone, a superior driver to one who does not.

Nor is such guarantee of a superior education the purpose of accreditation. A college that is full accredited by a valid (see below) accrediting organization simply means that the college fully satisfied all of the guidelines set forth by that particular accrediting association--something that may be helpful if you wish to transfer credits from one college to another.

Moreover, to state unequivically that accreditation would, by that fact alone, deny that college their right to take a biblical stand on moral or ethical issues is not entirely correct.

There are a vast number of accrediting organizations in existence today. Some are called regional accrediting organizations, some are referred to as professional (i.e., pertaining to a certain profession such as the American Bar Association being one that may accredit a university's law school), and so forth. Some accrediting organizations are valid ones (recognized, for example, by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation and/or the Department of Education) and some are simply fronts so that certain colleges (including several diploma mills that profess to be valid Bible colleges) can claim that they are "accredited."

Among Bible colleges, a valid accrediting organization would be the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools. Its website -- www.tracs.org -- will tell you more about them.

My advice as a former Bible college instructor and registrar is this: Go to the college where GOD is leading you, whether it's accredited or not. (However, just be sure that it is GOD who is leading you there, not someone else!)

Unless you are are planning on living your entire life within the Christian subculture (aka "bubble"), I would strongly suggest going to an accredited school. I have no idea what you've been told Kayla, but I go to Cedarville University, it is accredited...and it take a strong stance that the practice of homoesexuality is sin. Going to an accredited school basically means that your degree will be worth something in the real world, and if you ever need to transfer to a different school you will have that option.

I'm headin' to Landmark Baptist College (Haines City, FL) in August. I received my A.A. from Tallahassee Community College first (trying to figure out my life...LOL) but anyway God is figurin' it out for me. For my major I put Undecided... I figured I would give myself at least one semester of intense prayer before making a definite decision... I am leaning towards Missions... that's where my heart is, but God is molding me for something and whatever that may be is going to be the perfect fit for me and Vice-Versa.
This school is a non-accredited college... I like the school's statement when challenged with the topic of accreditation...

    "Do You Remember?"

... When the term Bible College meant that you were training people directly in the use of the Bible -- pastors, church planters, missionaries, evangelists, and Christian educators?

... When you could use the term Bible College and everyone knew what Bible you meant?

... When Bible Colleges would not have accepted accreditation from the world even if the world had offered it?

... When preparing missionaries for the foreign field was a top Bible College priority?

... The past glory days of the Bible College movement when Bible College graduates were starting and building dynamic, growing churches?

I do not disagree with accredited colleges... I went to one and received a degree from there. I just feel you should pray about it and go where you feel called. Me, I feel called to go to Landmark Baptist College and believe God will bless it. (my 2 cents) [IMG]
