Colossians 2:16, KJV Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

psr.2, I believe these are the verses you wanted to discuss. I believe you said that they indicated that the OT observances are to be reinstated worldwide.

Sorry, but that's the wrong take. Jesus physically made these things of no effect...both those named in V.16 and others not mentioned such as mandatory circuncision.

Since this is the versions forum, let me say the NIV was correct by saying they were shadows of things that WERE to come, namely JESUS and His acts...as well as what He'll do when He returns.

Paul is saying to let no MAN judge you in whether or not you keep these observances...and that they were and are shadows, while those shadows are cast from the SOLIDITY OF JESUS.

However, I believe the Jews will rebuild the temple & reinstate the OT form of worship in it during the Tribulation & the Antichrist's reign.

    Anyone else care to comment?

When I see a "therefore" (2:16 begins with it) I look and see what it is "there for". Back in v 13 (AV1611)
Jesus "blotted out" the ordinances of OT Judaism and if a person decides to follow such or ignore such, he should not be judged as more/less spiritual.

It is strange that, despite all the NT teaches about the OT law, there are those who continue in their blindness to insist that the OT law is still in effect. Another discussion board I know of even has a resident "Judaizer" who posts article after article after article about how we are still bound by the OT law. How sad that these people have not come to know the true freedom and joy found in Christ.

Colossians 2:16-17 (HCSB = The Holman Christian Standard Bible)
Therefore don't let anyone judge you in
regard to food and drink or in the matter of a
festival or a new moon or a sabbath day.
    17 These are a shadow of what was to come;
    the substance is the Messiah.

I believe this extends to the KJVO issue.
I choose not to limit God to one and only
one version (which comes in three editions [IMG] )
but allow Him to speak to me through all
    English versions, especially the ones
translated in the century that I live in:
    the 21st century (2001-2100).
So I do not allow someone to run roughshod
over me saying they are more holy than
I for using one and only one Bible.
