We got a little of everything to-day. Snow, ice, rain, slippery roads, then more rain, and more ice....it must be winter!

We also had some fun at our rental house. The former tenant, before she left, kicked a bathroom door in....It will cost me about $500.00 to replace it. So,,,when you read about nasty landlords, keep this in your mind, cos this is the kind of stuff we put up with all the time. This is the same tenant that moved the refrigerator directly under the furnace thermostat, then turned the heat up to 100 in order to get the furnace to heat the house to 70...oh yes, we pay the heat and electricity.....and we saved the house for her because we felt sorry for her condition at the time..........:tonofbricks:

Cheers everyone, wife and I are still smiling..............good night!!

    Jim

Oh dear Jim. I hope the next tenants turn out better. Such a shame that young lady didn't seem to appreciate all you did for her.

    Blessings

    Good morning all!

It is 8ºF here this morning and I am really glad I don't have to work on the corner!!! [IMG]

We had a 'smattering' of snow last night. Just enough to put an ice glaze on the sidewalks and streets that were just starting to thaw out from the last ice storm.

It's going to get UP to 15ºF today though. [IMG]

Our Christian school is having a basketball tournament this week-end and I have two grandsons playing. If it stays cold like this, however, I will not be going outside!

Today is housecleaning day. Boy, am I looking forward to THAT. (NOT).

I'm putting the coffee, tea, and hot cocoa on and I've brought in some Christmas cupcakes...help yourself.

§ue (staying in and staying warm)

    Good Morning Everybody,

Sue:It's 8 above here [windchill 0], and I share your inclination to stay safe, and stay warm. The Christmas cupcakes are great, I washed them down with a big mug of hot chocolate.

Dr. Ann is correct again. I do feel a bit better today, Guess I just shook-up everything when I fell. My family doctor suggested yesterday I get a cane, depends, and a pillow [I suggested that He go on a diet.] Doc once told a patient, who had been married 4 times, and had several female friends, that he[the patient] suffered from Sexual Narcolepsy - He kept falling into bed. * OUCH *, now you see why he and I kid so much.

I was able to take the kids to school today. I don't know who was groaning more...me or the car[neither one of us like 8 degrees.]

Miss Cindi: If you can "tough it out" one more day I, hopefully, can resume cooking in the coffeehouse tomorrow. We need to take a vote and see if the Coffeehouse would like me back, or stay with Chef Cindi.

Gayla requested a recipe for "Cincinnati-Style Chili" in the recipes thread, I was able to call in a favor from a friend of mine who lives in Cinncinati, and get the recipe for her. I think we'll give it a try for dinner tomorrow night.

Tonight is the last night of leftovers. I'd like to say that it's because I feel a bit better, but actually it's because the G-kids went thru the leftovers in the fridge like a plaque of locusts. I guess tomorrow is time to start making more meals that will become leftovers. LOL.

I was always told to never drink alone, so this morning I'm drinking hot chocolate with Matt Lauer, tonight I'm having dinner with Brian Williams.

Good morning everyone - where's the couch and coffee??? We had croup here last night and the ONLY thing that helped Jo was to sit out on the front porch in the cold. Ahhh - croup! Gotta love it. Bleck!!

Today is another day home (well, kind of - I dropped off Bob at the train station and I have to pick up the girls from school this afternoon - they're staying late to make up a class - and then pick up Bob whenever he gets back). I'm going to homeschool after I shower in a bit (want to finish my tea first), and I'll do some more housecleaning, as usual. I want to do a bleach load to - the rag bin is getting full. Tonight is another night home (there's not supposed to be church tonight, too, is there??) and we'll have another fire in the fireplace, although it's not that cold today. It's 50 degrees but it's supposed to drop off tonight, so we'll watch that happen. LOL!!

Have a great day all and thanks for the coffee - I need it today!!

    Good morning everyone!

Last night wasn't quite so cold here. Temps were in the 30's. Tonight we're suppose to get way colder with temps in the low 20's.

Barely made it through church and choir practice (til after 9 pm) last night. The cold really has my arthritis screaming at me. We had to practice in the sanctuary last night under the bright lights. It already felt like someone had an axe stuck into my neck and that was giving me a massive headache. When they turned the spotlights on I about died right on the spot. It didn't help any that Jenna was sooooo whiney by the time we got home. Wednesdays are bad for her and last night I just wasn't in the mood! She and I came home and climbed in the bed together and told everyone else to leave us alone! No one dared to bother us by that time.

This morning the neck seems better. Of course it gets better just when I have decided to complain to the doc. Isn't that the way things are supposed to work? I'm skipping karate today though. Don't want to reaggravate it just as it's trying to get better.

Ann, as far as I know there is no service tonight, but Upward Basketball starts the afternoon at 5! I only have Jenna playing this year. Chris opted out because of his migraines and since he's in his second day of the one he has now, I'm thinking he made a wise decision.

I'm sewing today and doing embroidery so I can sew. I'll be around, cause the embroidery takes a while and there's not much else I can do except sit and wait for the machine to do it's thing and change thread once in a while.

Oh, I brought in some ham and bisquits to go with Sue's cupcakes. Never mind that they are both a little dark, it's just a little carmelization. I only turned my back for a second.

    Ann,
Have you ever tried sitting with them right next to the shower with it turned on hot?
Steamy heat in a small enclosed bathroom always seemed to be the only thing for croup for my kids.

We're the opposite. Steam does NOTHING for my kids - just the cold. It was so bad when she had croup last summer (6/05) that I finally went to the deli nearby and asked if I could stand in their industrial freezer! LOL!! That was the only thing that helped her. Fortunately, only about 5 minutes outside and we're set for a couple of hours. But she seems much better today. She's only had 2 coughing 'fits' and each one ended on it's own, so I guess we're on the other side of this, which would be right - we're at day 4 of croup and day 3 of the steriods. :D

Thanks for the advice, though!! I wonder why the steam does no good with my kids (or my brother when he was young, for that matter)!

I was talking to a friend of mine this morning, and she was telling me how mouthy her kids had been this morning before they went to school. She was seriously considering corporal punishment for the kids, or a least some form of digital impact on the "back-of-their-
    laps."

I asked her if I could prepare a "special meal" for the kids. She must have caught something in my tone, because her next question was whether the meal would hurt the kids. I assured her it wouldn't, and she could pick it up around 4:30pm.

The ingredients of the meal will be: strips torn from an old dress shirt-sopping wet, and well-cooked pieces of string.

I call this delicacy Wet Laundry and Fried String. It usually has a calming influence on people. I dare say that after the kids get over the shock, they will appreciate good, home-cooked food..

There is nothing wrong with the ham 'n biscuits MK. Just cuz they're a bit brown means that you wanted to make sure that they were fully cooked, so we wouldn't contract salmonella. Nice of you to worry about our health.

    Good Morning Everybody,

eh? [looking around suspiciously] What's going on here?, I been trying off-and-on since 7am to get on this board, and finally make it at 11:30am.

The doors are locked, the lights are off, and the security squirrel is babbling something about overtime.

OH NO!!!, the Rapture occurred and I've been "left behind!" Darn. Maybe I should e-mail Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins and see if they know anything.

Oh well, Sue made all those Christmas goodies to send out, and now it won't matter. Wonder where she hid the loot?

I brought in Steak Sandwiches, French Fries, and calorie-free milkshakes. Guess I'll call Tim and Jerry and see if they want to come over for lunch.

*SIGH * I'm sure gonna miss everybody here in the Coffeehouse. Pretty sad when I'm now the best-looking person in the Coffeehouse.Last time I tried to live off my looks somebody told me when I was bankraupt.(sp?) Nobody around to check spelling with either. BWWWAHHHHH!!! :tear: :tear: :tear:

I guess we were all locked out this morning. I tried several times to get in and got the "page cannot be displayed" message.

    Glad we're all here now.

Thanks for breakfast/lunch Rob. I sure am glad you're back to cooking! I am going to remember the "thoroughly cooked" excuse the next time I turn my back on my cooking. :D

I have two throwing up and a stack of sewing I've been doing. I'm planning on making pralines when I'm done sewing. I won't turn my back on those.

    See ya later!

Yep, I wondered what happened too!

Today is yet another day home, pretty much. I kept Jo home from school although she's much better - just the drying nose and still a bit of a cough but I want her to be WELL before she goes back (although I know not every parent does that - atleast her immune system will have a chance to rest before Monday). Robby's doing his phonics right now and I need to wash and switch over sheets (I'll put the flannels on now that it's in the 20s). I'm going to start a fire in the fireplace around 2 so that when the girls get home, it's all nice and warm in here - the house was 62 when I woke up and the furnace was chugging away! It's now atleast at 68 after boiling 2 pots of water (with cinnamon, orange peel (my clementine from this morning) and cloves). So, my house is humidified, warmed and smells good!!

Tonight is the beginning of the busy weekend for the play. Tonight will be the dinner theater, tomorrow is the play at 2 and then Sunday it's 3 and 7 again. I just pray all goes well and that people hear the gospel.

Well, I'm off to make soup for lunch - kids' request. Take care!

    Good morning all,

It is a little warmer this morning. It's up to 15º...

Brent will be at the church-school basketball tournament all day and that will leave me free to get some 'present wrapping' done without him snooping!

Putting the coffee on and hoping someone else brings in breakfast (get up Rob).

    Good Morning Everybody,

Of course Miss Sue, I'll be happy to make breakfast. I brought in Fruit-Filled Petal Rolls, Sausage Scramble, and Skillet Sausage with Potatoes and Rosemary. Enjoy.

My Doctor has ordered Physical Therapy for my shoulder. Fortunately, my sister-in-law is a Physical Therapist . My therapy starts on Monday, I go three times a week for 3 weeks, then they'll evaluate the progress, and either continue therapy or I'll be released.

I have to finish my Christmas shopping today, and get the turkeys (8), and the supplies for salads for the "Christmas Meals." I've already got my Wife's Christmas present, and Christmas gifts for my kids and grandkids.

The G-kids all told me "not to fall down again." That's they're way of saying they don't like leftovers.

Tonight is the Annual Adult Christmas Party at church. This will be the first one for us, as we've just recently joined this church.

We were asked to bring three desserts. So we're taking Chocolate-Cream Ornament Cake, Black Forest Delight Cake, and Mocha Angel Food Cake with Raspberry Sauce.

I've never made anything for this church before, and I hope that what I've chosen will be okay.

    Time to get busy.

Morning all!! Sorry that I'm not hungry - we FINALLY were all home for a Saturday morning so we got back to our traditional pancakes and sausage that we've missed so much (we've had play practice on Satuday mornings for months now). It was great!!

I'm taking Joanna back to the doctor today because this morning when she blew her nose, she started crying that her ear hurt. I'm guessing another ear infection (she doesn't get many but this would be the 2nd in a month. :( I have a noon appointment and then the girls have to be at church at 1 for the play. I HOPE to be able to bring out our Christmas stuff this afternoon (once I get the house cleaned up) so that we can set up the tree tomorrow and get the lights on. Then Monday night will be the decorating. Jeesh - if we don't do it before the play, we can't do it until AFTER the play. Oy!!

Tonight one of the girls will be babysitting across the street (they get great money - $10 an hour for watching one 8 year old!) and the rest of us will just hang out. I've got to keep working on evaluating a new software program for what I do at church - I have to say that I HATE change and this new software is VERY different than what I'm used to. I wish we didn't have to change but the new software does a lot of things that the one that we currently use just doesn't do. Oh well. I'm quick at learning new programs and once I know it, I'm really good at it but it's the NOT knowing it really well at the beginning that drives me nuts. LOL!!

So I'll see you all later! Please make sure you leave something for Jim - he's been coming in very late at night to close up.

    Evening all,

It's been a busy, tiring day and I'm heading to bed early.

Jim: If you sneak in here late at night again, I left you a hot cuppa and some sugar cookies.

    Pleasant dreams all!
