"BANG..CRASH.............."Someone said it was too quiet in here, so thought I should do my duty and make a little noise.

Temperature dropped 12 degrees this morning and might remain there for a few days.

I must confess that my computer time drops off in summer months. I spend more time out of doors, even if it is just walking about.

    Cheers everyone. Enjoy your day!

    Jim

Afternoon, all. I just came to the computer and it was 92 degrees (F). I turned my back for just a couple of minutes and the wind began to blow. Just a few short bursts of wind and rain and the temps had fallen nearly 10 degrees. Tomorrow we have a 60% chance of thse stuff . We're now only 9" short for the year! There weren't any really heavy rains duing the winer.

It's been a really long day for me. I've been up since 11:14 pm last night......There were a lot of things that we had to get done before Viv had to go to work. They told them just a short whille ago that the y're not working on SAturday! Halllelujah! If'n I'm not back on before the weekend, y'all have a great one! :wavey:

Been too busy to post much lately. Helped prepare for my niece's wedding and post wedding blitz. But I'm BACK! Here's a few pics from the wedding and reception. SLIDE SHOW The first 4 pics are self explanatory. The 5th pic is Steve and I, the 6th is our son Brad with fiancé Callie, and the 7th is our son Brandon dancing at the reception. The Lord blessed, we had a good time and the honeymooners are in Gatlinburg for a week.

The weather here is dreary today, but we so needed this rain.
Hope the Lord is providing a few needed showers for you all today too. HAGD! :wavey:

Jim, I know what you mean. We have come back from our trip to the US to find a very overgrown garden. The weather here has apparently been too wet for our son to cut the grass. I have been busy picking raspberries and loganberries and dead-heading the roses. I think I am going to be jam making this weekend.

    Blessings

    It is I

Had an email from Barnabas H. this week - and thought I'd stop by and say HI!

I've been very busy since I retired from my secular job. I've often asked previous retirees - how they liked their retirement. More often than not I received a response like "I'm so busy, I don't know how I had time to work."

Well, I've found that statement to be rather true. I've been busy - this week with vacation Bible School. But both my wife (Jan) and my mother have been sick - and I find myself being the chief caregiver.

I've been wanting to work on my shed - but haven't been able to spend as much time as I would like.

Well I hope you all are doing well. NASCAR keeps me glued to the TV on weekends - and the Mets seem to be back on a winning streak - at least for today.

    Everyone have a great evening.

    Dan - the retired man!!!

Re-tire-ment; a term to give you another ten thousand miles! Retirement gives one more time to do twice as much without the monetary compensation.

Sheila, glad you had a safe holiday, and good to see you back home.

Much cooler to-day! Jumper weather for sure.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Thanks Jim. Yes, it was a great holiday thank you. We are still on American time tho' ...jet lag.

It is cool and cloudy/wet here but not cold enough for sweaters.

Dan, good to see you posting again.

    Blessings

    Sheila

Five hours difference doesn't seem like much, but it sure does play on the body.

When I came home for a month, I had to start changing my drug regimen a week or so in advance just to balance for days over there.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Watched some fireworks from my back porch this evening.

Do you suppose that the Fourth of July will become a "Monday" holiday one day?

Worked on my shed this afternoon for a while.

Read a "sappy" love story - off and on today.

HEY ALL!! How is everyone! I'm back from camp - had a fun and successful time. :D I'm just going through my 350 e-mails that were waiting for me (by the way, does anyone else get multiple messages that they have a post in CH??? I get atleast 10 for each post!

I'll be on more in the next few days - but I'm going to spend time with the family today. My second daughter turns 15 today so we'll do stuff with her. :D

    I hope everyone is well!!

Hey Ann! How'd it go with 2 kids and no teenager?

    Good Morning Everyone!

I hope July 4 doesn't become a Monday holiday, though it would make things more convenient. Sometime I worry that to much convenience makes us lazy. I'm lazy enough as it is.

We are under a fireworks ban here because of the drought. The city was applying for an exemption to the ban in order to put on their display, but I don't know if it was accepted. Then again I haven't read the newpaper the last few days and that's how you keep up.

Been to busy to read the paper. My back has been well enough the last few days that I was able to do a few things. Took the kids to B'ham to the library and renewed our card. While we were there we did a little shopping. I found myself a new stove. It's reasonably priced, gas and has a convection oven. Those were my requirements. The nasty electric stove that came in this house has never worked well and is just about to give up the ghost. I have to start saving but I expect to have the new one by Christmas (Thanksgiving if I can manage it). Found a nice new fridge too, but there really isn't anything wrong with the old one sooooo, that won't make it to the priority list.

Yesterday, I broke the child labor rules and made my three help me shovel out the house. It is amazing how much stuff can accumulate when mom is down for a week. Then T and Cass mowed the grass. Then we had company come! (good thing we cleaned :D )

Today we are headed down to T's folks. His sister and her family are in and we are going to barbeque! Yum!

    Ya'll have a good day!

As well as could be expected. The kids were good, but a bit bored at times. Fortunately, 2 days of the week, I had someone come and take the kids out to go swimming while I rode (those 2 days were brutally hot). What a blessing it was! But the rest of the time, they were with me - and even helped with watering and haying the horses. :D Poor Robby (6) had horrible allergies so I kept him on Claritin AND Benadryl the whole time - and Joanna was so bug bitten despite everything we did. She's healing up well already, though. :D

    Hello all!

I'm back from Wisconsin. I had a wonderful visit with everyone! I really hate the drive, but hate saying "good bye" even more...

The weather was good to us. We had cooler temps and no rain, but the traffic was horrendous and they drive like maniacs up there. LOL

I must get my unpacking done. It will take me a couple of days to rest up. Those 700 miles get longer the older I get.

    HAGD!

Welcome back Sue. As you can see everybody behaved and played nice.

We're leaving Thursday for a week to take a lighthouse tour up the west coast of Michigan.

Now if we could just have a nice 4th of July without thunderstorms [for a change].

My family and house are fine, but a terrific amount of flooding is going on in this region.
The river won't crest for maybe another 36 hours. Massive amounts are being released from the dams.
Several thousand people in town have been displaced. A Red Cross shelter is about a mile away from me.
Most of the roads in town were closed today. Traffic on the remaining ones at a real crawl to get to Walmart and buy supplies.
Some of the big employers around here simply shut down because people could not get there.
A nearby refinery under 10 feet of water. Several small KS towns having major evacuations.

So pray for the rains to subside and the pressure on the dams to ease.

Jan had her esophagus dialated today - procedure went well - but it was unpleasant - as the medicine they gave her did not knock her out - so she was totally awake during the entire procedure.

But she ate a couple of things (pudding and soup) on the way home - and did well.

Sue~ Good on you! Glad you're back!

Thanks to the American community here in Singapore, we got to enjoy some 4th of July fireworks too.. last Saturday. Thousands and thousands of dollars artistically blasted into the sky over 10 minutes. It was awesome.
