    Good Afternoon Everybody,

Sorry I'm a bit late getting in here today, but we had an emergency this morning.

My Mother-in-Law had chest pains, became dizzy and fell this morning. She's in the hospital right now and her tests are coming back that the level of one of her heart meds is elevated. She's resting comfortably now, but her Cardiologist is talking about doing a heart catheterization(sp?) on Monday.

Needless to say we'll be at the hospital a lot over the next few days.

Cuz thanks for the update. I was worried about you, and praying for you with Humberto barreling eastward like a train. Glad to hear you're getting the much needed rain without the damage.

We just came home to pickup some things, and now we're headed back to the hospital. I'll post an update as soon as we know something definite.

Humberto is really dumping loads of rain here. I'm hoping it doesn't flood the creek just down the road. If it does, Viv will have to go seven miles around. It doesn't look like it's going to be that bad here yet, though. Vivian said that about an hour North of here it's been raining pretty heavy. Still, the deficit in rainfall from this summer could let it flood some and let it o right back down in just a few minutes.

    Good afternoon folks,

I don't feel as well today as I did yesterday.:tear:
Waves of nausea are floating over me. YUCK!

Rob, will say a prayer for your M-I-L.

Looks like we're gonna get some rain this evening. But that's ok.

    Good Morning Everybody,

It is a cold 40 degrees and sunny here, headed for a high of only 60 today; but Wednesday is supposed to be 80. Welcome to weather in MI -If you don't like it...wait 10 minutes it'll change.

My Mother-in-Law is still having chest pain, and her EKG is showing some irregularities. She is scheduled for a Heart Cath on Monday, then hopefully we'll know more. Thank you for your prayers for her.

Sue take a look at the Thread Titles Again thread in the Clean Humor Section.

Gayla praying that the nausea passes quickly and you can get back on your feet.

Today is two football games for 2 of the Grandsons + a birthday party for our only Grandaughter. She turns 9 today, where-o-where has the time gone?

I brought in French Toast, Sausage Gravy and Biscuits, Bacon and Sausage, Fresh Orange Scones, and Apricot-Oatmeal Muffins. Enjoy.

May God's love for you brighten your day.

Good morning all! Rob - Thanks for the breakfast.

Quiet day here. We just need to do some chores (cleaning mostly) and hang out together. It's a quiet rainy day here - and cool!

The only drawback today is my eye is acting up. I have a physical on Monday to see what's going on but it looks like I may have some autoimmune thing going because any time my eye gets irritated at ALL, it goes nuts and forms a callous very quickly. Seems it's happening right now as I type. :( That's usually a sign of rheumatoid arthritis or lupus so we'll see what the physical shows up. SIGH

You are just a brat, Rob! LOL

    Good morning all,

It was a crisp 36º when we did papers this morning. I actually came home and turned the furnace on to get the chill out of the house! Terrible to have to do that this early. It's not even fall yet!

The 'boys' are outside working on soffets this morning and I am inside taking care of business on the computer.

Our annual "Lincoln Railsplitting Festival" is today and tomorrow. It's my favorite festival of the year and the only one I go to. We didn't even go to the fair this year.

Here is a picture of what Brent has been doing and also a picture of the small part of the front that is completely finished. The larger part should be finished today.

    Front gable 'before'

Front gable 'after' with Brent adding the finishing touches

    Sun porch 'before'

We still have to finish the soffets and fascia boards and put up the new gutters, but it is looking beautiful!!! And my new windows are so shiny! I sure never thought in a million years my house would be maintenance free and look this good.

Had it not been for a very generous, caring Christian benefactor, I would never have had the money to do any of this. God bless you my friend!

Also Pastor Bob's old boss at the building supply gave me some great reductions on all the supplies because he likes Bob so well.

And let's not forget Pastor Bob and Brent saving us all that money on labor.

    I am truly blessed!!!

    Good Morning Everyone!

Coffee is hot, orange juice is cold and there are pancakes and sausage staying warm in the oven.

Another busy day ahead. Chris needs to do an extra math lesson to make up for one we didn't get in last week. I need to pick up the house and finish deep cleaning my bedroom. Almost done in there. Then there is a mountain of laundry, mostly Cass', to be done. And on and on, same old thing. I think we might be getting a routine going though and that'll be helpful. Deep cleaning is almost done. I need to clean the living room, which is not in bad shape, and the library, which requires some furniture moving. Neither of them will take very long. Then a day spent cleaning carpets, one spent washing windows, and one spent cleaning out the half bath that is substituting for a store room because the sink is messed up and the worst of that will be over. Oh, and there is a little closet under the stairs that needs some work. I'll probably do that today. So hopefully everything will be nicely done by the end of the month!

Ya'll have good day and don't work too hard! :D

Thought I'd check back in to avoid paying bills....LOL

Sue, the house looks gorgeous! Good for you!

Our vet has just about begged us to take another horse. SnowAngel died of cancer this summer and about a month ago Star came in. (I know, nice, original name, but they come with names usually...) She was being sold as a children's riding horse.

    Right.

Busted up knee, club foot, heart murmur. Xrays showed we could not help the knee, but there is pain medication called, for short, 'bute', that she is now getting twice a day. We'll have her put down when the pain gets too much, but she seems pretty happy now. She's a small bay, a cross between a Welch pony and a Mustang. Interesting personality! Learning to trust us. The automatic waterer scared her totally -- I think she thought the hiss as it filled when she drank was a snake or something!

Anyway the little white pony we will be getting in next weekend has a bad leg and is blind in one eye, or almost blind. Mare. About 20. Don't know the little lady's name yet.

SOOOOO, we're moving all the gardening stuff out of the horse barn and into the big storage barn. Punching a back door in the storage barn to make it accessible easily. Moving hay from a nice empty corner of the horse barn to where the gardening stuff was and putting in a pen where the hay used to be for one of the minis so the new pony can have a stall.

Which means we will have five horses and two goats in a three stall barn.

We stripped the half bath and turned it into a small stall for the other mini this summer. So at least everyone has a stall when it rains and the new lady will have to be able to get along with goats! They will share the end stall which has a bigger paddock attached. This is getting crazy! And THIS, folks, is our ABSOLUTE limit. Gina tells me she's heard me say that before....but now there is totally no more room!

Great harvest this year. Two freezers jammed with fruits and veggies. Well, we raise food for ourselves and buy it for the animals. What's wrong with this picture????

Gorgeous autumn starting now. Skies are partly cloudy all day, sprinkles sometimes. Windy in the afternoons. Temperatures are mild and veggies still coming. Leaves starting to turn. Mums going crazy. I love this time of year. Everything is looking good and getting ready for a winter's rest.

After the surgery last week I have been amazed at, after the first couple days of recovery, to see how much energy I am getting back. I thought I was getting tired so easily because of age (not quite 60). But evidently the infection in my mouth -- which I was totally unaware of except for a little bump in my gums which didn't hurt at all -- had not only eaten into my bone, but had been sapping energy for months. It feels SO good to be energetic again and get things really done. Perfect time of year for energy, too, while days are cool and yummy.

We have a speaking engagement in southern Calif. first weekend in October, so that's the next major thing on the list. Barry's new article was just published and is on the web (I tried to link it, but it didn't work -- see edit below)
His DVD on the Christmas Star is finished and for sale at our webpage here:
    www.setterfield.org

We tried to contact Andrew to advertise it here on BB, but he never got back to us...

Barry's back teaching astronomy Monday nights and Bible study here Wednesday nights. Chris is hanging in there.

I tried to poison both of us (Barry and me) ACCIDENTLY with some walnuts I got in the bulk bin at Fred Meyers. Evidently they had some sort of fungus we couldn't see on them. I used some in some zucchini bread and we both ended up itching so badly! I was first and ended up in the emergency room a couple of weeks ago, scratching my hands and feet to blood trying to stop the itching. I was like a demented woman at one in the morning. When Barry ate some a couple of days later (before we knew what had caused my itching), and started itching, we got the benedryl tablets down him immediately. He needed them for about two days before he stopped itching!

    Wow!

Packaged walnuts from now on, and that's that! Plus we'll keep them refrigerated.

So that's what we've been up to. Gina's doing great, as are the girls, for those of you who remember 'da Gina.' She will finish up getting her AA degree later this year. Anna, her youngest, seems to be doing much better despite the heart defect. Her body is coping much better now than when she was little. Surgery is next to impossible and would pose much too great a risk on her life. So we are VERY grateful for her body's ability to adjust.

Well, better pay those bills before I go out to feed the beasties. God bless you all. Sorry this was so long....just catching up a little.

edit: Barry's article link didn't work. Tried to change it here so it would work, but it doesn't. Please email me if you are interested! [email protected]

    God bless....again!

Helen - I was JUST thinking of you yesterday! It's good to hear from you!

Well, we're back into the swing of things this week. Robby and Jo are homeschooling right now and at 12:15, I drop them off at the boat with Bob so that I can go for my physical (bleck) then go off riding.

Oh - did you guys read my post about Bob's and my date last night?? Here it is:
    http://www.baptistboard.com/showthread.php?t=43114

In summary, we got to watch a sick raccoon get shot. :( Poor little thing!! It was kind of weird to watch.

So, I'm off to finish some laundry and homeschool. Have a wonderful day everyone!!

    Hi people :wavey:

I have just started posting on here. I live in the UK, any other Brits or Europeans on here? This seems like a very friendly section of the site anyway.

Hello Steve, and welcome to the Baptist Board. There are several Brits and expats chatting on the board. I am long removed from East London and living in Canada.

We have a number who live in various parts of England and a few more living in Ireland who post regularly, although seldom in this room.

I trust you will find a home here as you search the Board.

    Cheers,

    Jim

    Good morning all,

It is warming up again. It is 84º right now after dipping down to 36º one night last week!

I am busy fixing hubby's favorite meal and baking him a special cake since today is his birthday. It is one of the BIG ones (60). LOL. Of course he will have black candles on his cake. I will take a picture and post it.

I must run because I have some missing ingredients and need to pick them up at the grocer's before I can start baking and cooking.

    Y'all have a great day!!!!

P.S. Thank you, Helen! I am so excited to have the scaffolding around to the side of the house now. It has been in front of my living rooms windows for over a month...

Well folks, I thought I'd put my $.05 in here since I'm about an hour being hitting the sack. Work for me is up at 4:15am and opening the office at 5:00am. I get a lot done in the three hours after I arrive and everyone else comes to work. I also get to listen to one of our local Christian radio stations while I work and that is great to do. I also get to enjoy my OWN little coffee pot with Hawaiian hazelnut with hazelnut creamer. Mmmmmm! Unfortunately, I cannot access this forum from work so I have to do all my reading and posting from home. I've not done much BB involvement but, do tend to lurk a LOT.

I haven't seen very many people from the western part of the U.S. on here and have yet to run across anyone from Nevada. We've been here for 11 years next month and it's been a really good change for my wife and I. My wife is unable to work any more due to chronic migraines and fibromialgia but, she is doing some writing and hopes to have a novel published some day. Fortunately, I have a great job that gives me a lot of flexibility and enough income to get by without my wife having to work at all. And we're very thankful for His blessing us that way. :praying:

So, I'll catch up tomorrow evening. The Reno National Championship Air Races just finished this weekend and we're just three miles west of the air field where they're held so we get a pretty good 'air show' every year without leaving home!

    Good Morning Everyone!

Welcome to the Coffee House Steve and Paul! It's always nice to have see new faces here. :)

Sue, your house is looking wonderful! Brent is quite the young man to be doing all that work.

Helen, good to hear from you! Maybe after the harvest is finished and it's raining all the time up there, we'll get to see more of you?

Breakfast this morning is cereal and cold milk. :D Nah, I have better than that. Just bothering my Cuz, cuz he ain't been making breakfast here lately. Leavin' all the w*** for me and then fussing when I use the word.

Breakfast this morning is sauted pork tenderloin, eggs, grits, bisquits and red-eye gravy. Soghrum syrup and butter are on the tables. If you want toast instead of bisquits there is fresh home made bread in the bread box. Ya'll enjoy!

I'm still cleaning and this morning I have a dentist appointment (yuck). This afternoon is sewing at the church, Chris' photography class and Cass' drama team practice. Poor Jenna, she gets to sit with me while we wait for them. No fun for her.

If ya'll are lucky, my Cuz will bring in supper. If not, ya'll have to fend for yourselves, I won't be home until almost 9 this evening.

    See ya'll tomorrow!

Morning...I can't say if it is good or bad yet. it is 9am and my eyes are not open very well yet.

Welcome Steve & Paul...it is good to see new faces and also to see the ones who are coming back:thumbs:

Sue, please post pics when the house is done...it is looking wonderful. when you are done you can send Brent down here to help Cindi & I ;o)

Cindi...how come I didn't know Chris was taking a photography class? Is that another one of the things you told me when I was really sick with morning sickness?

As for breakfast I think I will take you up on the milk and cereal. With Jeremy going on night shift, I was thinking we would have our big meal at lunch time and a lunch type meal at dinner....good thought but...with morning sickness still going strong (PTL for Zofran) waking up to "lunch" in the crockpot was a little smelly for me to say the least. Uggghhhhh....

I'm just happy to have him back to work after a 5 month lay off. And even happier to have him on nights. He prefers nights for some strange reason. It really does work better for our family.

The plan for the day is school work with the kids, keeping the kids voices down to a low roar...else they have to deal with a cranky daddy, I will be going to help out with the 1 yr olds at preschool around 1pm, Amie has a dentist appointment (Cindi, if Jenna feels too left out she can go watch Amie...lol) and after that I plan to be at the church.
