'Morning everybody! Looks like the kids and I have strep throat, so I won't breathe on the computer screen this morning--wouldn't want y'all to catch anything.

Off to the doctor and then back to bed. Hubby escaped to go on a business trip, so maybe he won't catch it.

ABC - Yuck!! Well, I disinfect my computer regularly so I should be in good shape. :)

Today will be a relatively quiet day. Homeschooling, some laundry, a few chores around the house will about do it for most of today. Later at 4, we have ballet and then the kids are supposed to go up to church but their rooms are DISASTERS and they've had time to clean it but no motivation. So they most likely will not go tonight.

I have a new recipe in the crockpot that sounds really good and I'm hoping it is since it's making a HUGE batch of meaty sauce. The recipe is called Crockpot Meaty Ragu and it's got chuck steak and meaty pork neck bones in it along with all the other sauce stuff. It will slow cook all day and after ballet, I'll pull out the meat, cut it all up and toss it back in. Hubby is happy that we're having a pasta with lots of meat. :) I'll let you know how it is!

Mmmm, that sounds good Ann! I have no clue what we are having for supper tonight. I have to figure that out later.

First up this morning is a doc appt with Jenna to see if her reflux has gone wild or if she has something else going on and if that something else might have something to do with a weird bruise looking mark on her neck that has been there for several months now. (I'm wondering if she is having thyroid probs though at 12 you'd think she'd be too young. )

Then one friend is coming about noon to work on some alterations that I just can't seem to work up the motivation to finish (they are half done!) and another is coming about 2:30 to work a project of hers. Church and choir practice will finish out my day. (maybe we'll pick up a bucket of chicken for supper ;) )

    Ya'll have a good day!

We also had a good crowd and a number of new people so that's awesome!! I think we were around 60 or so. :) Island Christian is coming along!! :godisgood:

One thing I hate about Sundays though is that it leaves a mess for Mondays. We tend to just relax on Sundays so I have to catch up the next day to make up for it but such is life. Today I have a roast in the crockpot to make French dip sandwiches and I'll make scallopped zucchini and salad with that. I'm also going to use up the cherry tomatoes I found at the farmer's market to make a baked tomato and mint dish that I found the recipe for and it looks amazing. I actually COULD use that as the side dish instead of the zucchini. Hmm - maybe I'll do that instead.

I also need to go to the barn to take care of the horses. My friend (the horses' owner) is away so I'll do the stalls, feed and such. I'll go down around lunch time since the old horse doesn't like to be out after around 2 pm. I'll do all the chores then put him in and go back later to feed him and bring in and feed the other guy. I also want to see if the humungous rat is still around. I soak some food overnight and he ate half of what I made for the horses and I know he's big because of the size hole he left in the dirt between the hay room and the stall. I also saw his poo in the hay room and it's BIG. ICK!!! I may stop at the hardware store and get the big rat snap traps instead of just relying on the poison.

    ICK!!

We had a great weekend at a retreat. My antibiotics finally kicked in on Saturday, so I was able to enjoy the weekend. Yesterday we had a good service, followed by a church dinner. We had BBQ's and a bunch of other goodies to eat.

Today is homeschool, menu planning for the week, and hubby wants to clean up his office at church. It looks like a natural disaster hit in there. I'd better lock the door, because I don't want him bringing all that junk back home!

Hey, you can't homeschool today! Its a HOLIDAY! Give your kids a break!

This is what my kids told me.

I asked what day it was: Columbus Day.

I asked who Columbus was: The guy that got the day named after him.

They got the day off. You just can't argue with logic.

(ps, our public schools are out today too so I already had planned to be off. I just wasn't telling them that!)

MK, I forgot all about it! Good thing is, they already got their work done for today and they are none the wiser about it being a holiday. Hehe. What do you know, I actually got one over on THEM for once.

LOL, Ann. At our house any trip to the grandparents is considered a feild trip and thus a school day!

Mine will get get Friday off too as the "cousins" are coming home for a visit. Luckily, Friday is homecoming for the public schools so I already had it off the calandar as well. I'm not sure how the district managed to get two three day weekends in one swing, but they did!

however, the next three days are MINE!

    Hey Sue -

Do you still let tea drinkers post on this thread?

Another busy year for me - though I retired from my career job in 2007 - I still work for consultant firms for 7 or 8 months each year.

This year - I drove about 65 miles (130 miles round trip) to work each day. I am tired, and I expect to work another week, then get a four month vacation!

    Dan - still kicking!!!

    Sue,

For the bulk of the work year - I've been getting up at 4AM - in order to get to work on time.

Often - I would not get home until 7PM!

By the time I ate supper - spent a few minutes with my bride of 40 years - it was time to go to bed - so I could get up at 4AM the next morning.

Jan pretty much insisted that I be getting ready for a brief night's sleep at 9PM - didn't leave much time to do much of anything.

I didn't even check my emails until the weekends.

Have a great day - everyone!

    Dan - the tea drinking - kicker:saint:

    Good Morning Everybody,

Sorry it's been so long since I've checked in here.

Hasn't been that much going on around here either.

Have to call and make a Doctor's appointment to see about my left hand. It shakes badly and I have no idea what is causing it, hoping it's something minor like a pinched nerve or something. Almost dropped a pot while cooking the other day, and I'm really scared to pick up the baby just in case it decides to shake again.

Time to go and help Walmart make payroll for the month.

Rob - It COULD be carpal tunnel because it sounds similar to what I had going on. In any case, taking Vitamin B6 really helped me (started at 50 mg. a day then went to 100 mg. a day) along with wearing a brace at night. Do you have any numbness at all??

Well, we had a wonderful Thanksgiving and our new church campus is going well. We've been having about 45-50 adults and another 15-20 kids each week so I think we're doing pretty good. I think the church plant people are quite pleased having hubby preaching now because they said that they knew he was a good speaker but didn't realize how good a preacher/teacher he was. I'm proud of him and really see him growing into this new role. It's so exciting.

Well, I've got to get the veggies cut up for dinner. We're finally having my turkey soup tonight and since I'm going to make it after I come home from riding, I want to make it easy on me. :)

    Good Afternoon Everybody,

I had a CT Scan this morning to see if I've had a stroke. I have tremors in my left hand and general left sided weakness. I see my Doctor next tuesday to get the results.

Needless to say, this has cut down on my activities for awhile. Hopefully it's nothing or something minor.

If you'd please be in prayer for me I would appreciate it. Strokes [if that's what it is] can be scary things.

Will check in when I get the results.

    Rob

Oh Rob!! I'm praying that it is something temporary and that you will be restored to full health very soon. ((HUGS))
