We're snowed in here. This being Washington, many churches will be closed today, if not most. A little snow really scares people here -- there were only about half the people in synagogue yesterday, and everyone went home early, before the usual activities, about 4:00.

But the reason it scares people is mostly because the plows don't take very good care of the roads. Lack of experience, I am sure.

Ran into a personal snag last night. I have been searching the Internet for a childhood friend and thought I had found her in Kansas City, MO. Last night, I apparently found her obituary. I am hoping it was not her, but the one who passed away had her very unusual name and was about the right age. This lady had seven children, though, which seems unlikely for my friend, unless some were adopted.

    Good Morning Abiyah!

I'm sorry to hear about your search. I hope you will continue it...that may not have been your friend.

I can understand being afraid of things you are not used to. Driving on snow is commonplace here and does not bother me...driving on ICE, however, DOES!

    Good Morning everyone [IMG]

Nice to see you all [IMG] [IMG]

We are not going to church this morning either. It's laziness on my part though. If I don't start preparing for church on Friday night, we can't really go. Plus, I am out of the "habit."

Dr. Bob, do you have diabetes? Is that what your neuropathy is from?

And I am sorry, I cannot remember your name! But the Jewish woman here.. very nice to meet you. I used to frequent Zola Levitt's website quite a bit awhile back, and I even talked to someone in the ministry (she answered the phone and we had a delightful conversation.) How neat to see someone who has been there to that church [IMG]

The bagels and coffee (leaded hehe) is wonderful! Thank you! [IMG]

Hi, Sue. :) I wrote to the man listed as her pastor, and it could be that he can clear this up. i gave enough of our history, leaving some details out, so that we can be sure. If it is her, her choice of church also amazes me. :)

Welcome to the Coffee House Michele!

Better get back 'in' the habit. The longer you stay out, the harder it is to go back.

But this is not the thread for theological advice or chastisement. This is a place where we can take a break from the more serious forums and just have friendly chats. :D

    Greetings to all!

Going to be out of touch for a couple of days. We are headed off to Paris! I love budget airlines cause our tickets were only €70 ($80) round trip! I am glad I bought them when I did since the dollar is much weaker now than it was then.

Does it make me un-American because we love Paris?

Well y'all just chatted away while I was having a WONDERFUL morning in God's house! I had 13 little one's in Sunday School (4 year olds)! A couple of them had awful noses and one of my friends, a young mother of 3 who lost a baby a few months ago, is out with pneumonia after having the flu!

Jim has C.O.P.D. and asthma (rheumatiod arthritis, neurogenic bladder (can't urinate without catherizing himself), high B/P... the list goes on) so we get the flu shot but are keeping him out of crowds. The doctor told him also that if he got this flu, he most probably would die. Our church has over 1020 members now.
The news last night said Georgia is endemic and 8 children have died.

Now.. Michele, you KNOW we're all going to start reminding you early next Friday to start getting ready for church! LOL

Abiyah.... would you believe, the S/S website shows a young woman with my (full maiden) name died at a young age? And my maiden name wasn't very common. Praying this is NOT your friend and that you'll be able to find her soon.

I sure missed going to church, but hubby went. He said Pastor was coming down with the flu. He was there, but did not preach or shake hands. He didn't want to give what he had to anyone else.

Ice in piling up on the windshield now. It will have to come off before tomorrow morning!

    Snow should be starting soon...

I'm glad you didn't go, Sue. No need to take chances! I scrubbed up before church service and then we did greet so I shook a lot of hands but went right away and washed up before touching my family. The deacons/ ushers were not shaking hands but just greeting...

    Hi again..

Yes please do remind me! That is fine with me lol. Just a note though.. I did not stop going to church out of laziness... that was just today LOL.

I stopped going about a year and a half ago because my husband is not a believer and gets angry at much talk of (true) religion/faith matters. He was starting to resent my church going and bible reading etc.

Since becoming more involved with the baptist church here on the corner, I have gone a few times and have made a few friends.

It's just hard to get back into the habit again.. but I want to.. so reminders are very welcomed! and thanks in advance lol.

    MHeath --

Hi, Michelle! Were you intending me? Thank you for the kind welcome. :) Just so you know, not that it really matters :-D , while I have Jewish ancestors, I am not considered Jewish. But I love the Lord just as you and others here do, and that is what counts, isn't it!! Glad you have found a nice near-by Baptist church. I hope you can get involved real soon.

    Christ4Kildare --

Hee-hee! No! But it sure was embarrassing the other day when one of our gov't officials was talking about the intelligence sent to France by the USA, and he derisively laughed at France's response, his sneer all too obvious.

    dianetavegia --

Oh, I hope it is not. I would rather be back on the proverbial "square-one" than have this be her. Thank you for your prayers! :)

OK Boys and Girls........please remember this is not the Politics Forum.

We come here to get away from all that. :D

Hubby just scraped ice off the car. He will probably have to do it a couple more times before he goes to bed and then when he gets up to go to work in the morning so I can see where I am going!

    Good afternoon, everybody!!

Took a little nap this afternoon in anticipation of going back to work tomorrow!!

It was really great to be in church this morning...lots of people were back from their time off (including the pastor), and it just felt good to be there! [IMG]

Leading causes of profound neuropathy are diabetes, leprosy or AIDS.

Funny, we got up and got ready for church and I was a little late being all ready and hubby decided we could miss SS class (Despite the chastisement he knew we would get : )) We braved the snowy roads (Abiyah is right - they are solid ice in places) Hubby even took back roads because he likes to make the Suburban spin  Then when we got there, it turned out SS school is on Christmas break and won't start back till next week - but everyone was huddled in the foyer waiting for my hubby cause he is a heater fixer by profession and the heater wasn't working! All those frozen people apparently weren't aware SS was off this week either!

Good service. We had a visiting minister from St Louis. Glad we arrived and he didn't have to chatter as he spoke : )

Dr. Bob, Jim's 'dead' or atrophied bladder is considered a 'neurogenic' disorder and is usually only found in paraplegics or those who have MS. He had a general check for MS because his uncle and cousin Sue had/ have it but he didn't have enough of the positive findings for them to say 'yes'. However, he's had some other nerve death in his abdominal area and it's totally unexplained.

Michele, I'm sure it's hard to get up and go when hubby is not a believer but I knew a family when I was growing up where the father would even make the mother walk to church carrying her babies.... and one day showed up to see what was so special that she'd brave all to go to church. He became an evangelist and preached her funeral from breast cancer (as a still young woman). Eleven of his Catholic relatives were saved that day!

Diane - MS is a "generic" diagnosis. There are about 30 different scenarios and as soon as someone hits 6-10 (depending on MD) they will get the devastating news.

LOTS of nervous system problems and only will be more as our human genes are subjected to chemicals, pesticides, additives, genetically altered foods. Ugh. Will be like the polution of the blood line in the days of Noah before long.

Hmmm. As it was in the days of Noah
