It's sunny and beautiful here in Philly. 59 degrees. But they trucked in man-made snow last night to have some sort of snowboarding event outside of City Hall. That will be a soggy mess by this afternoon!

Tav says, "The Hoover seems to do better in the middle of the floor but it just doesn NOT get up against the baseboards or around furniture. I just can't bring myself to use two vacuums every time I clean!"

    and

TatorTot says, "I might as well not even vacuum!"

    Problems, Ladies????????

Blackbird fixed his wife's problem with the clothes dryer!! He came draggin' in from a distant funeral---to the words, "Dryer won't work!!"

"What seems to be the problem?"

    "It'll come on---but it won't turn!!!"

    "Hmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!"

He goes out to the wash room---opens the dryer door---and it appears as if the dryer is overloaded!! He takes half the clothes out---closes the dryer door---adjusts the controls---pushes the start button---and presto!!!!

    "Did you get it fixed??"

    "No prob-blem-o!!!"

Whew doggie! It works! I must have had something put together wrong, cause when I took apart and put it back together and tried it again it worked fine. Those BB's are now spinning around in the tank with the rest of the floor trash.

Tater, this one is a Dyson. We've been waiting for some time to invest in one and T brought it home for me Monday night. Since I stayed out at the doctors most of the day yesterday, today was the first really good chance I've had to try it.

My old one is a Hoover Wind Tunnel. I've had it for seven years and it will still pick up anything on the floor in front of it. I can't tell you how many socks it has sucked out from under the couch when I used the wand. The kids will get to finish out it life upstairs. It won't be much longer because one side of the part that holds the head to the upright is broken. That is the main reason for replacing it.

Debby, my son would love to watch snowboarding. He'd probably give a try to but no snow in Alabama! He had to skateboard instead.

Now that I have the vacuum figured out I gotta go clean. Hopefully I'll see ya'll this PM.

See blackbird, I solve my own problems. I'd hate to put T out to having to fix something. :D

He's a lucky man that my daddy raised me like a second son instead of a daughter.

Well my dryer won't dry the loads in one cycle. Think I've overloaded it? [IMG]

I feel like I'm doing not much more than vacuuming up the top stuff that shows. We've got the cheap 'builder' grade carpet. Even if I had the money, I wouldn't invest in new carpet while doing childcare! I was scraping candy cane from the carpet in 3 rooms this morning. Ty just spilled a little milk on my computer chair. The junk the kids track in...

We have one of those Hoover's we got from Wally-world----it's gotten to where it won't suck up "diddle-lee!"

We also have a Rainbow---get this, now!! A preacher friend of mine---"gave" it to me---they had gotten a new one---anyway---get this!!! Out of the blue---a "Rainbow man" calls Miriam and arranges a "demonstration"----I tell her---"Ain't nothin' wrong with the Rainbow we got!!"

Anyway--the Rainbow man comes over---and like a nice salesman---he goes through his sales pitch and then I spill the beans!!!

    "We've got a Rainbow!!"

"Yeh!! Lets take a look at it!"

So I go to the broom closet--whup out the Rainbow---fill the little "do-dad" with water---plug it in--flip the switch---and its "off and runnin'"---suckin' up every particle of dust in its path!!"

Get this!!! He tries to sell me another one!!

"Man! That cleaner won't last out the year!! Listen to it---the gears and bearings are shot!!"

    He left without a sale!!!

    HA!!!

My Hoover is a wind tunnel too. Good thing they're cheap. The Electrolux is probably 25 years old. We've replaced hoses over and over and another minor repair because the cord wouldn't recoil but it's been a great machine. It just doesn't clean like it used to on carpet. Nothing gets close to edges like it does either.

Some girls came by the other day offering to give me a free roll of paper towels if I'd let them clean one room of my house. I almost let them... but knew they were selling something I couldn't afford so turned them away. Merry Maids, maybe?

With 6 dogs indoors, we don't have any carpets in house. Hardwood floors are so much easier to keep clean and shiny. A hoover salesman's nightmare! We do own a shop vacuum, a $49.00 special from Sears and it works just fine when needed.

Just how clean must a home be? Sometimes I think we go overboard and forget to live.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Try a "Shark". $50, rechargeable and really a neat little unit for all floors. Oh we still have a big kirby to pull out every few months, but day to day this is a great unit.

And Christmas Gift idea for the wife! What more could she want for a present than a new vacuum?

And speaking of haircuts. $10 set of clippers and a large bowl for a "Moe" cut.

We could sell BaptistBowl on line and raise money for Webmastr . .

    Good afternoon, everyone!

I just returned from the beauty shop, got a haircut and a perm [IMG]

I think I am finally ready for Christmas [IMG]

Sue, our paper carrier put Christmas cards with our paper. Now we have his address so that we can send him a card along with a Christmas gift.

Hope everyone has a great day

You're smart Betty! I always liked my perms best after a few weeks. Now you'll be all spiffy for Christmas!

We still need some presents for Nick and I haven't mailed out the presents to the granchildren yet. Both families will let the kids open them when they come and then there's nothing under the tree from us on Christmas. I've started mailing a little later.

We only need another day and we'll be through with everyone, except Cheryl. Her birthday is on the 30th. I try to get her something nice just for that.

I got a hover in 91 and it's still going strong. My sister went through 3 or 4 vacuums in the last three years, but that hover works better than the new ones.

BTW, coffee is now good for you. The last study I read said it fights cancer and the stronger the better. Although I don't really need a reason to drink more java. I already go through several large cups a day.

    Evening all:

I made the mistake of going to Wal-Mart (just for a few things) since I was feeling a little better and now I can't stop coughing again. I guess the doctor knew what he was talking about after all...

Betty: We put Christmas cards in with our papers last week and have received several cards with money in them already. I am having a terrible time finding "Thank You" cards that don't cost $3.00 for a pkg of eight!!! I may have to make some on the computer. I got my personal cards mailed out yesterday and Brent got his mailed out today (he wanted to send a school picture to some people), so we are done with that.

I will wrap and pack Bob's packages to send to KS tomorrow. They're the only ones I have to send this year.

My shopping is finished except for hubby and I know what I'm getting him, I just don't have the energy to go get it and cart it home right now...

Putting on my fuzzy gown and relaxing while the 'guys' go to church.

    Have a good evening!

Need to make little cute computer-generated thank you notes, Sue. 4-to-a-page and only cost is a little colored ink.

AND DON'T COUGH ON THE KEYBOARD. I don't want' to catch that bug . . .

Hey Kids! Well by late this afternoon I had a deep sore throat and I'm praying I don't have strep too. The mom picked up the 5 year old and took her to the doctor. They gave her meds for strep but didn't do a strep test. Since another child here has it, doctor just is treating her 'in case'. Now... just got in from church and my throat isn't hurting now. I do have a headache and feel like I'm getting a cold tho.

Sorry you're not feeling well again Sue! Maybe it's calm down before bedtime!

    Diane
