Sue, your customers should be very generous to you. We are just grateful that we receive a paper each day and it is in our yard. Ed said send them some money since they are dependable. [IMG] We wouldn't know what to do if we didn't have to dry the paper because it got in a water puddle.

Diane, Ed was very complimentary. He said my hair didn't look any better than it did this morning. [IMG] I assured him that it would look better. The girl just let it dry naturally so that the curls would stay longer.

Also, I gathered a lot of information about child protective services. Beauty Shops really are a very informative place, aren't they? I like this shop because these are Christian young women. One of the women's daughter had surgery and the other children had prayed at school for her. Isn't that sweet?

The girl who does my hair is a Christian too, Betty. That's one of the reasons I followed her from one low price shop to the Wal-Mart salon.

When our kids had newspaper routes in Meriden, Ct., they might get as much as $300. at Christmas on one route. The rest of the year, maybe 50 cents per house each time they collected. When the paper went up to $1.75 a week, their tips dropped to a quarter! The Christmas money was what really made it worth it.

Dr. Bob: What a great idea! I got right to it and have created cute thank you notes with a 'nutcracker' on them and the text we wanted to use (different for each of the routes). [IMG]

Betty: Every card we have received so far has thanked us for our excellent service. They say, "Our paper is always right where we want it, always on time and never wet." I am proud of that because we do try hard and Brent has been SO good since I've been sick. [IMG]

Diane: We have received $85.00 from just five people so far, and we deliver 135-140 papers, so it might be a prosperous Christmas after all... [IMG]

We are giving up the out-of-town paper route December 31st and we are notifying the customers in our thank you note. We are keeping the in-town route and will be picking up another in-town route January 1st - so we will still have two routes - just closer together (less gas). ;)

My coughing has subsided, somewhat, but has left me with a splitting headache. I discovered I had just enough cough syrup for tonight. Will definitely be asking for another prescription tomorrow!

Hubby's factory is having their annual Christmas dinner and dance this Saturday night. We haven't been in years, but hubby wants to go this year. (He likes the free food) . If I'm feeling all right, we will go to the sit-down dinner. I wish he would just go by himself because I will still be on antibiotics and am not into 'small talk' right now, but he won't, sooo...

Off to bed with this one.

    Pleasant dreams all!

I hope you get lots and lots of Christmas 'tips' Sue! We had to collect in person back then and people were always so kind to the kids. I walked the routes with them. I did 6 miles a day before the dog bite.

Sheila and Rob do lovely cards on their computers. My printer is out of colored ink and the black ink keeps reminding me it's 'empty'. I did find some pretty enough cards at the dollar store tho. I mailed them to all my Sunday School children but will put the others in the church mail slots. [IMG] The little kids LOVE getting mail.

Jim's #1 job is having a Christmas cook out party the afternoon of Dec. 23rd. I've been invited. We know one of the corporate guys from church and I've met one of the other guys when he and Jim stopped by the house one day. The rest would like to meet me but it's 1 1/2 hours from here and I'll have 6 kids that day! Don't think that would work.

Good morning Billy and all who will rise later:

I've been up since 4:30, but just realized I hadn't posted in here yet!

I had a VERY good night's sleep and am hardly coughing at ALL this morning.

    PTL! [IMG]

Today is present wrapping day (after home schooling) and if I still feel good after doing the papers - I am actually going to cook supper!

    HAGD!

Good Morning, All! It is a beautiful day here in Oklahoma! About 40 degrees with temperature rising. We had better enjoy it while we can. There is a cold front on the way.

Glad you are feeling better, Sue. Hope everyone else is well. It seems the flu bug has hit Oklahoma and now anyone over 50 can get the flu shot.

It is tempting to stay home and not go any where to avoid germs, but it seems I catch them even when I stay home.

The grocery store where I shop provides "wet ones" to wipe the handles of the shopping carts. I really appreciate that!

Today is painting day so I'll check in later.

    Good Morning all!

We woke up to tornado and thunderstorm warnings this morning. What fun! It was all over for us by the time I carried the kids to school. The water from all the rain was all over the roads and all the creeks were out of thier banks. Had to drive carefully. Poor T is driving back into the storm as he goes to work. I hope the storm stays ahead of him.

Diane, you should probably keep your TV or radio on cause this mess is headed your way real fast.

Diane, when Son had strep, the girls and I had had terrible sore throats for a week already(mine for 2 weeks). I was really sick with mine so when he tested positive I had the rest of us tested. We all tested negative. The doc gave us all antibiotics, but only Bitsy took them cause her blood work came back funny(sinuses we now know). Precious and I were better in a couple of days.

Sue, I'm glad you're feeling better.

Morning all! Well my throat isn't sore today but my sinuses are causing a good headache. I woke to a phone call from Pastor Jon's wife. One of my children from Sunday School and AWANA is in the hospital. He couldn't wake up and then went into seizures. He's awake now but running a temp so we're concerned because he was around 25 or more children and adults last night for our Cubbie Christmas party. He seemed FINE last night! Running around and playing. No sign at all.

Glad to hear you're so much better Sue! Wish they could prevent the bronchitis!

Betty, since I've started keeping all these kids, seems like I have gotten sick a lot more than usual. One child has strep and another is suspected of having strep.

    Here's a funny -

While I was at choir last night, my daughter finally made the secret family recipie for fruitcake, so the cakes can be wrapped and put in the basement till Christmas. Actually, this should have been done a month ago, but we've been so busy with planning for all of the new kids in the various church programs. (Now, I know what you are all thinking - but our fruitcake bears NO RESEMBLANCE to the junk you buy at Wal-mart or the supermarket. It's soft and moist and GOOD!)

Anyway, there was grease on the bottom of the oven from the meatloaf the other day, and when I came in, the house was smoky and smelled like "barbecued fruitcake." Strange mix.

I hope the "smoky" taste isn't in the cake.

Debby, you may just start a new trend.

    Afternoon folks!

Everything is so squishy outside from the rain that when you step in the yard a puddle forms around your feet. It has turned into a gorgeous afternoon. Quite warm in spite of the cold front they keep telling us is on its way.

Anyone know where you can find Tote's Shoe Covers now? Jim needs them! It's storming today and he came home with his shoes soaked.

Ug.... The two sister's mom brought the girls when Lindsey got out of school. Brooke threw up on my carpet and couch. She'd not eaten anything today so it wasn't a horrible mess but.... Her Dad picked her up a few minutes ago. I had to call him to come tho. She had fallen asleep on the bathroom floor.

Max is still ill. He's got strep and has been throwing up everything for a few days. Jack, from a 3rd family, has blisters on his throat and a bad viral head cold. Out of the children I keep, 3 are quite sick right now. 2 families have brought them to me so very sick.

I sure hope we don't get sick! I can't afford to not keep the kids and we are keeping a room full on Saturday night at church for a S/S class while they have their Christmas party.

    Smoked FRUIT CAKE???

Well, I just found out why I'm not getting over this 'bout' of Bronchitis and I'm still so weak.

The nurse just called with the radiology report on the X-ray I took Monday.

I have BRONCHITIS AND PNEUMONIA! I was shocked. I have been walking around with it for almost two weeks. It is not 'walking' pneumonia either! I must be a tough old bird!

No work again next week, on the corner. I sure hope I don't lose that job. This is the 3rd week in a row I've not been able to work.

Please step up your prayers. I really want to get over this so I can get back to work! Feeling good again would be a plus too. :(

Will the medicine they gave you take care of the pneumonia too Sue? Gosh, I'm so sorry to hear this! Wish they had caught it sooner so you'd be feeling better by now.

Thankfully you'll be getting the Christmas money from your paper routes. Hope it's WAY more than you've lost by being out of work.

    Praying!

Time to break out the Clorox, you two! Disinfect everything you can wipe down and use lysol for the rest!

Sue, you might need an old fashioned mustard plaster to loosen that chest up as well. I hope you got that cough syrup refilled.

Seriously, though I'll pray Sue gets better fast and Diane and her family don't get sick at all.

Neat site Cynthia. I followed some links and then spent an hour or so reading about bugs. LOL

Thanks for the prayers! Jim was quite upset that the mom sent such a sick child into our home.

I believe sick babies need to be with their mamas! (or grandmamas) It really gets under my skin when people knowingly bring their sick kids to church or other places to infect my family. We have gotten hand foot and mouth twice at church, not to mention all the other crud.

Diane, I sure hope yall can steer clear of it all.And Sue, you ARE a tough bird! (I didnt say old!)
