The Gideon's Bible is out...condoms and "One Night Stand Kits" are in at hotels.

When you think America can't get any worse they do this.

Next time you're in a hotel/ motel like this replace those items with a Bible, tracts, and so on.

Take the other items and throw them away. ;)

I don't suggest throwing anything away you get from the minibar, unless you're willing to pay for it. It will just be replenished before the next occupant, however, so it's not like you're inconveniencing them at all.

Also, I wouldn't suggest leaving Bibles unless you know for sure that housekeeping won't just trash it. Maybe just a tract along with a generous tip for the cleaning lady would be more apropo.

Like another poster said, they'll just charge you and replace them.

Besides, when someone enters a hotel for that reason, they're probably going to have their own "supplies," or they don't care about them.

I have not come accross these items in hotel rooms .......... yet. I always bring my Bible on holiday with me but always expect there to be one in the room. I have gone to the reception desk and asked for one if I have not found one there.

Did you ever think you would see the day when you would walk into Walgreens and see condoms displayed right up there next to the chapstick, bic lighters and candy bars? You used to have to ask the druggist for one (not that i ever did) and they kept them behind the counter. Boy am I getting old. And the world getting wicked.

Who in there right mind would use them?

I think they will collect dust...just like the Gideon Bibles.

I don't like seeing them either. They shouldn't be out where children can see them. All items like that should be behind the counter.

Why so? And how is a child harmed by viewing a box on a pegboard or shelf? There are no pictures that show them in use. Avoiding the potential embarrassment of asking for them also means people who should be using them are more likely too. This is a public health issue, as well as a contraceptive one.

It doesn't matter who "should" be using them. I don't believe in them. If people want to have sex outside of marriage that's their problem.
They can ask for them at the counter.

I agree that people should have to ask for them at the privacy of the pharmacy counter or at least they should be stationed near the counter.

But there are tons of married couples who use them - and not just for birth control. Was I misreading you?

Don't you know that married people use them? Also, even Christians can make mistakes, and they shouldn't be punished with an STD. It becomes everyone's problem. And again I ask, how are children harmed by boxes on a display?

They make choices and the Bible says you reap what you sow.
Children don't need to see them. What would you do if stores stocked porn in children's sight?

So should we not treat people with diseases just so you can gloat? You already are against preventing disease in the first place.

Your porn question is irrelevant to the topic, and a Red Herring fallacy.

They can be treated, but we can't help or teach people to sin "better."

My question was valid. All birth control should be out of children's sight and others who don't want or need to see it. Condoms, Pregnancy test, porn, and so on, needs to be behind the counter or in a separate "adult" section.

In the early-mid 1980's, many people contracted HIV from blood transfusions. I'm sure that many of these people were married and that they were forced to use prophylactics 100% of the time. (I'm trying to be delicate with my words for I can see this headed towards the men's private forum any minute now.)

What sin did these people sow?

I agree with you about the location. But I do not agree that prophylactics and pornography are connected.

That's not their fault. I was referring to premarital sex.
You can't be held accountable for contracting a disease through a blood transfusion. :/

I have a feeling that Jesus would still hang out with prostitutes and not deny them treatment. Doesn't matter how it is contracted, disease is disease, and should be treated.
