John McCain flirted with leaving the GOP for the Democratic Party in 2001, and considered running with John Kerry in 2004.

We don't want to talk about that, it's more fun to bash Obama.

I love that he served his country, and that he almost had the good sense to leave the GOP!

This is very old news, what does this have to do with anything?

He listened to an offer from a friend and turned him down. He is still a republican.

It has to do with the fact that while he is trying to present himself as a conservative, he actually has a very recent history of considering becoming a Democrat. Hardly conservative. But then again, neither is Bush.

Lots of people consider all kinds of things, what matters is what he did. He is still a Republican.

    Nice try, next.

Lots of right-wingers accused McCain of being a RINO, that is until he won the republican nomination; now, since he's running against Obama or Clinton, it's different.

    Honestly, so what?

If this is the best that the mudwallowing Clinton and Obama camps can come up with at this point, they are going to hand an election away that either of them should be able to win easily.

Yes, Senator McCain is worse. He doesn't even attempt to hide that he wants to be a war president.

This really troubles you doesn't it?

More so than Obama not even attempting to hide that he wants the slaughter of innocent life, children, to continue on in this country?

We lost 4000 brave volunteers in the past five years in Iraq who have stood up to give the oppressed a chance to free themselves from tyrants and terrorist.

We permit the murder of about 6000 innocent children in this country each year. That is 30000 innocent oppressed dead in the past five years to 4000 willingly brave volunteer soldiers dead trying to end another oppression.

How many died in our own civil war to end an oppression of slavery?

Priorities a bit mixed up their Ken?

    God Bless! :praying:

Steaver, please try to stay on topic. We can discuss other subjects without you trying to make every thread an abortion thread. If you want to take a discussion there, please start a separate thread.

    Thanks.

I have no idea what wave my brain was riding on this morning when I posted this.

The number of children murdered each year in this country alone is well over 1,000,000. This is over 5,000,000 innocent oppressed dead in the past five years.

And some folks believe a war to relieve oppression in other countries is more horrific?

    God Bless! :praying:

    1) Yes, it does.

    2) The War Between the States was a lot more about preserving the Union than about slavery.

"I would save the Union. I would save it the shortest way under the Constitution. The sooner the national authority can be restored; the nearer the Union will be "the Union as it was." ... My paramount object in this struggle is to save the Union, and is not either to save or to destroy slavery. If I could save the Union without freeing any slave I would do it, and if I could save it by freeing all the slaves I would do it; and if I could save it by freeing some and leaving others alone I would also do that."

    - President Abraham Lincoln in a letter to Horace Greeley on dated August 22, 1862(http://showcase.netins.net/web/creative/lincoln/speeches/greeley.htm)

    Why should he?

    We are at war.

Ignoring it won't make it go away.
