... I see that we seem to be sending money to Northern Baptist Universities. Does that mean that they are aligned with us now?
How does the move impact SBC?

Both schools are not "Northern Baptist," exactly...they have been historically associated with the General Association of Regular Baptist Churches- http://www.garbc.org- which left the Northen Baptist Convention over 50 years ago during the Fundamentalist-Modernist controversies.

If I were a conservative SBC, I would see this as a generally positive move. These schools are very conservative doctrinally, and fit in well with the direction of the conservatives.

Southeastern College at Wake Forest, NC is very solid. Two schools that are definitely NOT conservative are Carson-Newman and Belmont, both in Tennessee. Avoid them like the plague if you are trying to guide a youngster in the right direction.

I admired the way Mohler conducted himself on a Donahue episode a year ago (?). Presented the gospel in a very articulate and respectful manner. The show dealt with Christians beleivng that to go to heaven you have to have faith in Jesus Christ.

As for LRS. I have a tremendous amount of respect for the school and what it has accomplished. Alumni are a virtual SOuthern Baptist whose who (Charles Stanley, Dorothy Patterson, etc). I debated between doing my doctoral work there or at American Christian College and Seminary. Chose ACCS.

ACCS had grown to have a small multi million dollar budget and was accredited by TRACS. Unfortunately, ACCS developed what I consider to be systemic administrative problems that lead to their downfall. They grew too fast and had internal issues. What they desparately needed was a regulatory compliance officer. They did things like institute a biblical studies DMin taught by DMin's (should have had PhD's) and on the other hand their Counseling doctorate program (DMin) had faculty (practical and could have been
taught by DMin's) with PhD's (two that I was aware of). That was upside down. They messed up items such as having their endowment keep up with enrollment (a TRACS requirement) and then were left scrambling in the end before the TRACS review.
Etc...etc. Once these things became systemic they never managed to correct them. The administration that presented the required self study for renewal that got them into trouble
suddenly resigned and things went from "everything is fine" to "ooops".

Those who are in ACCS programs and were 75% through can finish with ACCS under a
Dept of Ed/TRACS mandated "teach out agreement" and will earn accredited degrees as
long as they finish by May 05.

It was a sad journey for students and I am sure faculty. Some students were left with
partially finished programs and no access to student loans. Thankfully arrangments have
been made with other accredited schools (such as LRS) to transfer students. On the faculty side, there were committed men and woman who lost a dream and sincerely believed in the school. I talked to a couple of those folks who were actually choked up.

    Sorry about the digression.

I did my graduate work at Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri. Comparatively speaking to most, I'd say it is conservative. I didn't have trouble fitting in at all. I am not sure about the undergrad.

It certainly isn't as conservative as a Cedarville, and nowhere near as conservative as a OCC or Bob Jones or Marantha, but it is light years more conservative than a William Jewell.
