    You can bring any remarks here seeing that our last discussion got hacked for no reason.

    From our posting rules:

    8. Use descriptive subject lines. This makes it easier for people to see what your post is about.Do not use another member's screen names in topic titles.

    Your not supposed to use peoples names in the subject line. And the thread got closed because it had gotten off topic.

    Now, I do have something to say about make vs. set.

    John 8:32
    And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. (KJV)

    The Greek word for make is Eleutheroo.

    1. to make free
    2. set at liberty: from the dominion of sin

    Also translated:
    KJV (7) - deliver, 1; make free, 6;
    NAS (7) - freed, 2; make...free, 1; makes...free, 1; set free, 1; set...free, 2;

    So, it is not a denial of the Word of God to use set instead of make. Both are valid choices here.

    From the www.studylight.org interlinear Bible.

    Smack me on the wrist. So sorry. And no, there are big differences, but if this thread is not to continue then that's fine. I was just getting his attention to continue a conversation. Most threads to end up off topic, ours just questioned the website logo.

    L2dy;
    No, your thread did not get hacked for no reason. The discussion had wandered far into left field of the OP and board rules say that such threads can be closed.
    That's what mod's do.
    :D
    (Frankly, I think they LIVE for it! LOL)

    And who really cares what the logo says? (As long as it ain't from the "Satanic Verses") Are you here to discuss Bible or pretty pictures? Bro. TC has already destroyed your assertion from the other thread.

    There is a MAJOR problem here.

    Some go to the Greek and see a number of good choices of English words/phrases to translate the Greek. In the "good old days", translators even put a number of choices in the margins, showing there was not "one right" translation.

    Sadly, some go the AV1611 (or revision thereof) and claim THAT is the only correct word.

    PRINCIPLE: We must go to the Greek as the final authority of what is a good/bad English word, not to ANY translation of man.

    To claim perfection in an English translation is as ludicrous as claiming the Pope's words were perfect. Both would take the inspiring power of God - and it surely doesn't rest on man today.
