Conversation with a Muslim

Today, I had the opportunity to speak to a nice young person from a Middle Eastern Country. In the course of discussing our different cultures he seemed amazed at my conservative values, and asked me, "Are you Catholic?" I explained that I am not, and then said, "Am I correct in assuming that you are Muslim?"

He looked almost frightened, and then said, "Yes, but please do not stop speaking to me."

I told him, "Don't worry. While we obviously disagree on faith, because I believe Christ is the Messiah, I do not hate or fear Muslims. Besides, you don't strike me as an Osama Bin Laden type."

The young man's reaction was .. amazing. He spit on the ground and said, "Do not say that name to me! He is not a Muslim! He abuses our faith! He insults all true Muslim's. He has done more to harm my people, and the people of my faith than he has done even to your nation!"

We talked a bit more, and I learned that this young man, and many others from his country - feel that men like Bin Laden are not only violating what they believe their faith teaches, but bringing the wrath of God down onto their nations because of those who follow Bin Laden.

    Interesting incident Sky! [IMG]

I too have met more than one muslim who is not happy with the islamic fundamentalist terrorists either. For example several muslims were killed in the London Bombings. and in Iraq, muslims are killed everyday by terrorist bombings.

Good on you for having the courage to witness Christ to a muslim, it is a sad fact that a number of Christians are to petrified to even have a clue what to say, let alone approach someone. Yet every tribe and tounge will be there praising God when He returns. Christians need to bear that in mind.

Either the media is doing a lousy job of reporting the anti-fanatical wing of Islam or the moderates of Islam are afraid to speak out in fear of being a target. There doesn seem to be much of an overall movement against the terroism from the Muslim community. Maybe a Million Muslim March aginst Al-Quaida or something?

Doesn't help their cause that 100,000 Muslims in Britain out of 1.6 million support the action of the London bombers.
A significant percentage. Makes you wonder how many really feel that way but were afraid to say.

6.25% for the terrorists in Britain.

93.75% against the terrorists in Britain.

    Interesting.

It's much worse than that. How many of that 1.6 million are children and don't get an opportunity for their opinion to be counted?

Let's just say 1.0 million of that 1.6 million are adults. You now have 10% for the terrorists.

</font>[/QUOTE]Think about it , Joe. Democrats would kill for a block of people comprising 10 % of the vote.

It is a significant percentage concerning the subject of whether or not you approve of the murder of 50 of your fellow citizens.

Think about it, Carpro. I bet if we were to take a poll of Southern Baptists, I wonder how many of them would still support the actions of the Klan...about 10%? How many do you think would support the actions of Eric Rudolph or Fred Phelps? About 10%? I sure am glad that folks don't look at the views of 10% of those extremists nuts who claim to be Christians while ignoring the other 90% who disagree with that. Why...that would almost be as bad as when liberals in this country equate Christians and us Southerners who live in "Jesusland" as extremists right wing nuts. I do continue to note the double standard presented by some who like to give people who are more like us the benefit of the doubt while casting the worst possible light on those who are different from us and ignoring the positive signs that they are trying to reform. Sad.

That 10% is sure busy building bombs, sending money to bombers, and recruiting homicide bombers to blow up people on mass transit, too, you becha!

Oh, and let's just say that 10% = 25,000 who are ready to strap on bombs. Let's use a VERY conservative figure of 25,000. How fast will a country come down if all 25,000 bomb some place in that country simultaneously?

Yep. Just ask the folks in Oklahoma. Have you ever heard of Eric Rudolph? Do you endorse him bombing abortion clinics? Where do you stand on this issue?

Start a thread if you want to know about Eric Rudolph. This thread is about Islam. Better yet, do a poll. And be sure to ask how many Eric Rudolph supporters are ready to strap on bombs to go into Abortion Clinics and blow themselves up and everyone in there along with them. Make sure you ask if they will include nails, screws, bits of metal, so they get maximum impact.

I was merely responding to your assertion that folks like Rudolph, McVeigh, et al are not planning violence against innocent Americans. Apparently they were and probably still are. The point is that they are the minority, just as, even by Carpro's own numbers, are the Islamic extremists. They are just as much a threat to our national security and should be stopped.

But, that doesn't mean everyone who is like them in any way, (in Rudolph's case, claiming to be a pro-life, anti-homosexual Christian) is also guilty of being terrorists.
