Isn't it ironic that the gridlock that beset the Debt Supercommittee will result in real and deep automatic spending cuts?

It's got to be the first time in history that doing nothing actually got something done. What a novel way of governing!

You don't understand the times. Neither do you understand the advances made toward wholesale Marxism due to the efforts of this administration and its party. You no longer have the luxury to desert the force that has the potential to halt those advances.

Do that in the next election, and you're selling out your neighbors to a despot.

It appears to me you know nothing about Marxism.

Wow, did you know you were fear mongering? I didn't realize this until someone else pointed it out.

I have thought the same thing but they will probably come up with some sort of stop gap measures to circumvent the process. Imho

(first post from my new smart phone, just to see)

In the days of nazi Germany------(I don't have the figures in front of me---so don't quote me on the one ones I give but if you think about it I won't miss it by much)----------the GESTAPO(German State Police) received in the neighborhood of 98% of their information from informants---the informants being the accused one's own neighbors----thats right----neighbor's snitched on neighbors----the German public was told(drilled and grilled) by the secret police to report ANY form of suspected activities to them and they would take care of it the rest of the way--------primarily the rest of the way to Auchwitz!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Those who set a standard of perfection for any presidential candidate will never find a candidate that they can support. Such persons also haven't researched the lives of our founding fathers. Most modern baptist churches would reject George Washington outright as the owner & operator of one of the largest whiskey distilleries of his day.
It is this misguided desire for a perfect as Jesus candidate that will continue to thwart the efforts of mere mortals to change the destructive course of our nation; but at least you can pat yourselves on the back for not voting for a sinful man.

They only hold that standard for everyone but the one they have already decided they want.

I don't need someone that is perfect. They just need to be against abortion consistently (Newt isn't even close), and not want to throw our fighting men and women's lives away on every two bit dictator (Oh no! They have BI-PLANES! Just think, in another 30 years they might have the internet, and THEN think what they might do to us...we have to go blow them up RIGHT NOW!) (Newt is a war-monger, IMHO).

They also need to be about shrinking the government (Newt just wants to grow it in a different direction). Anyone that has those three things down, can have my vote, assuming they are not just outright crazy on something else...

Havensdad, since when has Newt leaned toward abortion, maybe before he became a real Christian but now doing a 180 and accepting Christ he is against abortion. Romney is the flip-flopper on abortion.

I believe Newt Gingrich is a Roman Catholic. I would hardly call this being a Christian.

I see what you mean. Like a guy who goes on the Alex Jones show and warns of the coming North American Union, and the coming Amero currency.

Or who warns Congress that the Bush administration is going to fabricate a Gulf of Tonkin incident in order to attack Iran with nukes.

Wonder which candidate that would be?

What is REALLY scary, is your "our leaders would never do what countless other leaders throughout history have done" attitude.

Tell me, WHY do you think that a Gulf of Tonkin like incident is so far fetched? Wasn't there a FIRST Gulf of Tonkin incident?

Why is a North American Union so far fetched? Is there not a European Union?

While I do not personally believe either of these things, they are by no means "crazy." Leaders have done things just like them, in recent history. There are no aliens involved in these theories, or other silliness. They are both the kind of things that leaders have a RECORD of doing...

And considering "that candidate"(s) almost prophet-like ability to predict events in the past (which even his detractors admit), I certainly would not put it outside the realm of possibilities.

Show where I said anything like that? But US Representatives trotting around making accusations based on suspicion and little else, and which don't come to pass, is a little unnerving to me.

So you're saying well those things coulda happened!? Personally I don't vote for candidates who chum up to Alex Jones and promote these kinds of scares. But that is just me. And frankly I have no favorite in this race, since none of the candidates are very impressive. I fear BHO will win again.

How do YOU know it is "based on little else." Paul is on and has been on several committees privy to classified intel...

What exactly hasn't "come to pass"? Just because someone is not able to do what they wanted, does not mean they were not TRYING. Remember also that Paul was not the only ones to make such accusations/predictions; a very high profile General ALSO made the same...

I am saying they still could, and we have certainly went down the road in that direction, on both counts, even if we have not yet seen them fully. As far as Alex Jones, he is certainly kooky, and has a bunch of goof ball theories, but he has also reported several things that were later picked up by the mainstream media.

The funniest thing here is that Ron Paul has convienced some here that he is different than other politicians, which is a lie.

He does his best to get every dime he can for his district while appearing to be against government spending. He's just another politician pulling the wool over the eyes of the simple-minded.
