Almost Half of Americans Fear Corruption if Clintons Return to White House, Poll Finds

    By Fred Lucas

(CNSNews.com) - More than six years after the Clintons left the White House, nearly half of the respondents in a new poll - 45 percent - worry that if they return, they could bring "high levels of corruption" with them.

A Zogby International poll released Thursday in Washington highlights in particular concerns about former President Bill Clinton's ability to "behave honestly in the White House" if his wife, Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) is elected president in 2008.

The poll results indicate that scandals which dogged the Clinton administration remain relevant to a significant number of voters.

Forty-two percent of respondents also said they view Sen. Clinton as corrupt. Of those, 17 percent regard her as "very corrupt."

One in five Democrats (22.1 percent), and 39.3 percent of independents among the respondents believe Sen. Clinton is corrupt. Meanwhile, 55.6 percent of respondents who attend church once per week believe there would be high levels of corruption.

I agree, there is corruption in the White House. I believe it is because our current President and, especially the Vice President, are corrupt.

Who cares about Hillary, she's not electable. The Neocon noise machine gets so annoying with it's fascination over the Clintons. Rudy Giuliani is the one they should watch out for. Ron Paul occupying the White House should be the goal that we should strive for, a common sense guy leading our country would be refreshing.

I read this also, carpro. Hillary's reactions to the president's speeches after 9/11 are the reason I left the democrat party. She's a disgrace.

I'm not really sure why I'm laughing, either. I should be on my face in a closet. This country is in sad shape, and that ain't funny.

    That's the truth!

AND every White House is ripe for corruption. There are way too many staffers. Way too much at stake. Way too many conflicting interests (or self-interests).

    Government! Ack!

    And far too little accountability.

Isn't this the truth. Part of the problem with the lack of accountability is when you try to hold the WH accountable, then you're quickly labeled as Leftist or a Right Winger. It doesn't seem like you can discuss a WH without being labeled.

It's sad because each party, no matter who is in the WH should be up for a debate and up to the hard hitting questions without the name calling.

Until we take our government back, it will always be corrupt no matter who is in the WH.

We already have a high level of corruption in the White House with the Bush administration. That doesn't seem to bother you.

I wasn't polled and apparently no comparison was requested of those that were.

    Makes sense.

The pollsters realize Bush is not running for President in 2008.
