Could the wall be crowdfunded?

American Thinker had an item where a contributor suggested that the American public could crowdfund the twenty-five billion dollars for the wall and that construction could begin when five billion was raised. Private contractors could get going quicker as the government is not known for rapid work.

This would bypass the political foot-dragging of the congressional class that is beholding to the rich for more cheap labor and more easy votes for the Democrats, never mind the high costs of health, education, unemployment caused by an endless supply of unskilled labor.
