Crimes against humanity, a phrase that seems inadequate to describe the murderous twentieth century. Crimes against humanity when various governments around the world murdered not only their enemies but also their own citizens by the tens of millions.

One nation guilty of crimes against humanity is the Soviet Union, who murdered 100,000,000 people in the twentieth century. Lenin himself had 250,000 murdered in his first year in power.

NBC in a commercial for the Winter Olympics show some of the beautiful things from Czarist Russia as a backdrop and then, in an insult to common people, call the Soviet Union and communism "a pivotal experiment."

    NBC would gag a maggot.

I was utterly amazed at how they've tried to sanitize Russian history.

The country that has "passed 56,000,000+ of its children through the fire" metaphorically speaking! But 56+million were slaughtered anyhow!

Update: Not only has NBC called the Soviet murder of tens of millions a pivotal experiment, but now CNN has joined in the praise of Stalin as a good family man (a communist lie). Now CNN is making maggots gag.

Former Soviet mouthpiece Vladimir Pozner has been on late-night Olympic coverage with Bob Costas. Anyone remember him? He's the newscaster for Moscow TV who offered an "opinion piece" at the end of one of his evening broadcasts in 1979, saying that the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan was "honoring our commitment."

To which William F. Buckley asked, "Commitment to what? World domination?"

The White House is urging Russia "to be more involved" in a peace process. Yeah, right. Putin is trying to reestablish a mini-version of the old Soviet bloc, and the Great Marxist is urging him to be "more involved" in developing a truce. Sure, that'll work.

About as effective as asking the hyenas to broker a truce between the zebra and the lioness who attacked him.
