I can't help but wonder where he was spiritually. All the times I heard him, I never heard a word about faith.

I pray his kid will not grow up with a desire to 'outdo' his dad. Ever since his dad was caught not being careful with the boy . . . I kinda felt that he must not be real careful with his own safety - that is not a good model for his son to follow.

I pray that the Lord will bring the family His peace and love.

    PS

How did he get hit by a stingray in the chest? But, what a painful way to go. Unless it went straight into his heart . . . I don't think the barb is long enough to reach the heart.

So, this was probably not a fun way to get dispatched to meet the Maker of the Universe.

Ironic that "God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son so that whosever believeth on Him should have everlasting life."

But, whosever does not believe on Him is condemned already.

So sorry to hear about this. My kids were big fans. I'm praying for his family during this sad time.

USA Today says the barb on a stingray can be up to 10 inches long. Ouch.

At least he went quickly . . .

Stingrays are one of the most painful ways to go.

Well, this just makes me so sad! He's absolutely one of my all-time favorite televsion personalities!

One thing I loved about him other than his passion for nature, was his great love and admiration he had for his wife and how crazy he was about his daughter. I can't believe his little baby boy is 3!

Even if he weren't saved, if nothing else, he was a model example of how husbands should love their wives and their children. He didn't make his family a part of his business life. He made his business life part of his family.

He provided lots of fun and knowledge for children of all ages and made me aware all of the time of the Creative Genuis of God.

We can only pray now for the spiritual status of those he left behind.

Gee, this really bums me out!!

==According to the director who was on the scene they were filming the reafs (sp?) for their children's show and a stingray was buried in the sand. When Steve swam over it, it attacked (probably defending its territory).

As for where Steve is now, I guess we will have to wait and see. Someone said they never heard him mention faith on his show, which is true, but that does not mean he did not have faith. I have to think that whether he is in heaven or hell at this moment he has to be thinking, "I wrestled the largest crocs in the world, handled dangerous spiders and snakes, and to think I was taken out by a stingray". It just shows us how uncertain life can be. Things we take for granted can take us into eternity without warning. Just think of all that could happen by just getting into the car to buy a loaf of bread at the local grocery store, or walking down some stairs...

This tragedy also reminds us that we don't know when we will face judgment. We should always be ready.

Pray for his family and his friends at the zoo.

I really hate to hear this sad news. I have watched many documentaries and shows that Irwin made. He had a passion for life and a passion for the animals he knew so much about. One thing that impressed me most (as mentioned in a previous post) was his incredible love for his family. I know he will be greatly missed by many!

Sorry to hear about the guy. Prayers for his family.
He is an amazing human being when it comes to passion for animals.
    A great dad, and husband.
Can't say that about most celebrities.

"Ol' Steveo certainly had truckloads of enthusiasm & energy" said the big cabbie who has neither ;)

Generally ditto to everything else above. As others have mentioned his family was even a bigger buzz for him than anything else he ever did.

Martin said I have to think that whether he is in heaven or hell at this moment he has to be thinking, "I wrestled the largest crocs in the world, handled dangerous spiders and snakes, and to think I was taken out by a stingray".

If Heaven, I fully agree. If Hell then no, not even the great Aussie Larrikin attitude would survive there.

I pray he did know God because everything is wasted without that...May God be with Terri, Bindi, Bob, the rest of the family and the Australia Zoo "extended family".

Again as Martin said This tragedy also reminds us that we don't know when we will face judgment. We should always be ready.

As others have said, I don't know his spiritual status, but I do know that I greatly enjoyed his documentaries and wish I had half of the tremendous vest for life that he displayed. I tend to get lazy and mope around at times, which no Christian should ever do, I suppose. We can only hope that Irwin's great enthusiasm extended to his relationship with God as well.

I don't know what his religious beliefs were, if any, but I hope he's in Heaven now.

If you meant tremendous ZEST, so do I!

My grandson was very sad this morning when I told him. He never missed his shows.

He was swimming above the stingray and, yes, the barb made a hole in his heart. He died almost immediately - doing what he loved.

Sad news, indeed. On his My Space site, last login date of 9/3/2006, his religion is listed as atheist. :tear:

Now that is incredibly sad for him. I hope his family will not follow in his spiritual footsteps.
