Too bad, but it's their chapel, their decision.

To deny the Christ in a Chapel designed for worshipping Him is just plain wrong on all levels.

    It is evil.

No, it's not a Christian college, it's a secular one. Unless you want to impose a theocracy, William and Mary gets to do what they want regardless of what you think, Guero.

A physical cross is not necessary for worshipping Him. To say otherwise borders on idolatry - are you worshipping the Christ or the cross?

Removing a physical cross is not denying the Christ.

Oh, and they're not gonna anyway. Apparently, they've changed their minds.

A chapel was built with money from donors . . .

I do not believe that the donors gave the money expecting the Cross of Jesus to be removed by a misguided president of the college.

Nor do I believe that a college that was founded as an Anglican college should be considered to be a pagan institution just because some people want to make an argument supporting the attack upon the Cross of Christ displayed in the Chapel.

Secular does not mean pagan as pagans have religion.

William and Mary can do whatever they want with their property.

BTW Guero, it isn't the "Cross of Christ" as you say, it's a decorative cross.

I would add something, but (as usual) Terry and Daisy have said it all.

I am amazed by Christians who see some sort of power in a man made object. Scripture forbids making crosses, and says there is no power in them. Why do we get so upset ?

If it is not the cross of Christ and is just a decorative cross then why the need to take it down? Their reason for doing so is so as not to offend who? Why would a decorative cross offend someone?

According to Gene Nicole the current President who made the decision to take it down it is a symbol of Christ. And this is done as if their is some virtue in embracing all religions. This idea is has no value or virtue. And it flies in the face of the one true and living God.

Aren't symbols of Christ banned, in scripture ?

I'd like to see all religious symbols banned, including that stupid peace sign.

We should be fighting to save souls, not symbols.

Fighting to save souls and tear down everyone else's religious symbols sounds more like islam than it sounds like Christianity.

    God never banned religious symbols.

And He chose the cross to confound the wise.

Speaking of the symbolic, I rather enjoyed a sweatshirt I saw in or near Williamsburg .... "I go to the College of Mary and William"! Symbolism that communicated something in this egalitarian age.

    You're not. At all.

For those who are interested in honest discussion, are we to preach THE cross, or A cross ? Will any old cross do ?

If you do not know how to preach the Christ crucified and resurrected, then we might need to start with the basics.

Starting like Lombardi would have started, this is a cross.
