CARACAS (Reuters) - A Venezuelan man who had been declared dead woke up in the morgue in excruciating pain after medical examiners began their autopsy.
Carlos Camejo, 33, was declared dead after a highway accident and taken to the morgue, where examiners began an autopsy only to realize something was amiss when he started bleeding. They quickly sought to stitch up the incision on his face.

"I woke up because the pain was unbearable," Camejo said, according to a report on Friday in leading local newspaper El Universal.
His grieving wife turned up at the morgue to identify her husband's body only to find him moved into a corridor -- and alive.
Reuters could not immediately reach hospital officials to confirm the events. But Camejo showed the newspaper his facial scar and a document ordering the autopsy.

Things like this make me reticent to become an organ donor. They may harvest my organs before I am done with them.

Of course, if they do take your organs, that pretty much does away with your fear of being buried alive, doesn't it?:wavey:

I read somewhere that severe trauma (such as a car crash) can cause some people's heart to beat very, very slowly and faintly so as to make doctors think the person is dead.

I think I'll tell my wife not to have me embalmed, and to make sure I have a strong cellphone in my breast pocket capable of penetrating through the volume of dirt piled up on top of my coffin.

plus an oxygen tank for a full week's supply, with a red string going all the way up from inside the coffin to the headstone with a bell attached to it at the end that I can pull and instructions for her to come visit for the next 7 days and listen.
