Yeah, like turning the hearts and minds of your children over to the village, while you persue a hight powered career, instead of staying home and backing cookies like Tammy Wynette.

Doesn't matter which party is elected. Nothing changes. Nothing slows the transfer of assets from the working class to the Swiss banks.

Yes but assets in the form of cash transfers to China, Formosa, India, Wal Mart, etc...... I fail to see a point.

I haven't heard any Democrats profess to be Communists recently. Do you actually have any proof of this?

I think the Republicans are mostly Fascists and don't care whether poor people live or die. Of course, this is against all Christian teachings but the idea is to put on a good face and support Christ as long as it doesn't raise your taxes.

Where does it say in the Bible that it is the governments Job to make sure no one is ever in poverty. Christ said we will always have the poor. In the end all the government porgrams are misguided attempts to rid us of something Christ said we would always have.

Jesus said that in a very specific special case. I hope you haven't refused to do anything for the poor because of a misinterpretation of scripture.

Mat 26:6 Now when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper,
Mat 26:7 There came unto him a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat [at meat].
Mat 26:8 But when his disciples saw [it], they had indignation, saying, To what purpose [is] this waste?
Mat 26:9 For this ointment might have been sold for much, and given to the poor.
Mat 26:10 When Jesus understood [it], he said unto them, Why trouble ye the woman? for she hath wrought a good work upon me.
Mat 26:11 For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always.
Mat 26:12 For in that she hath poured this ointment on my body, she did [it] for my burial.
Mat 26:13 Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, [there] shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her.

I think you and I and the Church should do for the poor. I said the govenment programs are misguided and problematic, and not mandated or advised in scripture. And none of your verses advise or mandate Social government spending.

These social programs, are prevelant because the church has chosen to ignore the issues of dealing with the poor. Sadly the Mormans do far more "Christian" work with the poor and infirmed, than the Church, at least per capita.

Neither does the Bible condemn social government. The Bible does not say anything at all about how governments should or should not be run, nor what programs are or are not appropriate. The fact of the matter is that the church is not doing enough for the poor, and "you" and "I" are limited in what we can do for the poor (i.e., providing healthcare or prescription drugs). Instead of trying to make a biblical argument, why don't we work on improving the social system we do have. You say they are misguided and problematic, so how can we improve the system? Better yet, what can be done to improve poverty statistics? We can never fully eradicate poverty, but would you agree that we, (as a society), should at least try to help eliminate the problem? That would be the "Christian" thing to do, would it not?

I daresay Republican women are doing the same thing. I think it has more to do with capitalism than any of our political parties. We are ever striving for that elusive "American Dream", so to speak.

My verses refuted your inference that it's not important to help the poor. Actually, I totally agree with you on how that should be done. The churches need to step up to the plate and take over that function from the government. Of course that will cost church members more but it is really the Biblical approach.
