Children should be able to be employed. Anyway taking any extra I may have and forcing me agaisnt my will to give it to someone else is slavery.

Honestly, I'd rathe be a slave to the government (over which I have some level of control through the ballot) than to a corporation (over which I have no control).

But where does it end? Dental exams today, what about tomorrow? By the time my girls are teenagers, will they be forced to show proof of birth control before entering public school? At some point we have to draw a line. If we don't, the balance between government and freedom will be compromised. I think in some cases it already has.

The solution to finding balance is not to throw out balance completely.

I agree. That knife cuts both ways, though.

And I will go ahead and work to avoid both.

Requiring dental exams is not balance.

Here we have that "compassionate" conservatism at work.

Especially for those with dentures. Maybe you could achieve balance by searching out a podiatrist that also practices oral surgury. It would be a one stop for removing a foot from a mouth.

Besides the fact that government is once again intruding on our parental duties, I question the validity of a state approved dental exam. Our kids had a dental "exam" at their year physical. It consisted of opening their mouth and saying, "Ahhh!". Yeah, I'll be taking them to a real dentist, thank you.

    love,

    Sopranette

It probably is a matter of general dental health. A dental exam for the purposes of determing severe neglect is not that difficult.
