Posts 2 through 5 were still talking about tax returns - not financial disclosures.

Since you feel that all politicians are corrupt how do you feel about Obama cheating on his taxes?

I am not a McCain supporter. I have stated that loud and clear on many occasions. I believe he is a liberal much like Bush.I am not currently a Republican supporter. The repub party has lost their way. I am looking at third party candidates to vote for. Nice of you to run after making false accusations about me and those who posted posts 2-5.

I think anyone in Washington who is a dishonest cheat should be kicked out of office and jailed...and personally i'm all for electing 535 new members of Congress if that is the case.
I do have a problem with being told more taxes are needed because spending is going up by people who aren't willing to pay what they should themselves.

I will agree though, Obama of all people should not use the "Didn't know" excuse as a member of congress and an attorney.
And i would gladly say the same of any GOP member who did the same.

I said I was done with this, but you responded while I was typing so I will answer...

Tax returns... Financial Disclosures... yea, that's a real difference.... my point stands as ALL politicians are corrupt.

Please refer to my comment just above... oh and pay close attention to the ALL part. :)

I think Obama is just another one... just like McCain, and anyone we have had to choose from... in my opinion and still to this day I think Ron Paul would have been a good choice.. Yea he was cooky.. and some of his ideas wouldn't work, but who is perfect? No one.. however he did offer us some sound advice and hope.. Too bad we will have either Obama or McCain in office for the next 4 years..... more of the same to me....

Now, I am done with this thread.

I stand corrected on your position, but stand firm in my other post and opinion.

According to Biden, this proves true the accusations that Obama is not a patriot.

It's bad when your own vice-presidential nominee questions your patriotism.

I don't see Obama dodging the responsibility, my point is he is not the one who put the entry on the form. Keep in mind, he was a good "patriotic" citizen for amending his own returns instead of waiting to be audited to see if he would get caught.

I think just the opposite, I think it takes a true patriot to want his taxes to be accurate so he pays his obligated fair share.

It's too bad McCain's wife is required to release her returns since that is where their true money is.

Also, I don't think we've seen Palin's returns yet, have we?

The signature line on form 1040 says:

"Under penalty of perjury, I declare that I have examined this return and accompanying schedules and statements, and to the best of my knowledge and belief, they are true, correct..."

So what are we to believe?

Either this lawyer/politician who would be President signed the return without looking at it ...

Or he signed it knowing that it included a disallowable deduction for a political contribution...

Or he signed it without knowing that political contributions are disallowable as deductions.

None of the above choices show him to be particularly competent or ready to assume the highest office in the land.

Actually from the reading that I have done, it appears that he amended the return after he was forced to make it public. So in actuality he was caught.

You seem to be changing your position here.

Obama obviously did not care to be sure that his tax return was accurate - when he originally signed and filed it.

Otherwise he would not have had to amend it.

You forgot the obvious, "or he trusted his accountant as many of the rich do".

Close, I am sure he had them reviewed before making them public which is probably when this type was discovered. He could have kept them private like Palin if he didn't want to be "patriotic" and pay his share.

Again, he trusted his accountant like many of the rich do. You think Bush or McCain's wife doesn't do the same?

I guess conservatives also make mistakes on tax returns. Here is an article on Palin's tax returns (which she just filed Sept 3 by the way)

Oh well, it wouldn't be a politics thread if LeBuick didn't find a way to attack his hated arch-nemesis.

I may start a politics thread about the Zoning commission run-off elections in rural Albania, and see how many posts it takes for LeBuick to slam Palin in that thread. My guess is it will take all of one post.

Now...back to the topic at hand: Our convoluted tax system is such that it is virtually impossible to "bat a thousand" if one has any complexity to one's finances (i.e., they are wealthy, they own property, companies, etc., as many politicians do).

Having said that...did Obama cheat on purpose? I have no earthly idea.

Nah, Albania would be safe from a Palin attack unless she recently googled it so she can add it to her foreign policy resume...
