So it would seem. A court orders the White House to preserve emails. Nixonian politics survive.

Oh, did Nixon destroy email? I missed that.

BTW, your source doesn't even say that the Bush team is destroying any email - just transferring them to the archives.

Oh targus, you know full well there was no email then...remember the 18-1/2 minute gap in the tapes? And it is talking about missing emails and the order for the White House to preserve them. You just really didn't read the article. Same stuff, different day and technology.

The article doesn't indicate that there are any missing emails, or that there was any intent to destroy any.

I think you might be reading too much into it because of your political bias.

Uhm.. sure. A judge always issues an order to preserve emails to every outgoing President huh?

    Linkie

If the Judge didn't think there was a problem with missing emails I don't think he would have issued an order to preserve them. It would have just happened like it always does when a President leaves office.

No, this time if different. This administration used email accounts other that the whitehouse account, there were/are emails they can't produce at this time that have been lost. You have a VP that wants to claim he don't have to give over his records because he isn't part of POTUS..

No, I don't think MP is reaching too far with this.. There is was a problem and a Judge had to step in to make sure things were properly perserved, that doesn't look like 'nothing to hide' to me....

Interesting...when judges provide over sight for wire tapping it isn't good enough for some. But when a judge makes an order in a case like this then everyone involved is guilty.

Show me where I was some of the "some" you speak of and you will have a point, otherwise you don't.

You won't find anything I have said about wire tapping as I didn't comment on that subject. I do however find that when a Judge issues an order, it's for a reason.

What I find funny is when a judge provides over sight for persevering emails it isn't good enough for some, but when a judge makes an order in a case for a birth certificate then everyone clings to the fact that maybe someone isn't an American.

    Sounds familiar?

No it does not, not in this thread. Your statement was right after mine, when I gave the link to the judge.

You implied I was part of the 'you' when you made your statement.

Since I never said anything about wire tapping and it isn't part of this thread your statement does NOT stand.

    Nice try though...

Sure... now you've gone off the deep end. :)

Back to the topic at hand.. There is apparently a problem with emails and achieving them with this White House, or the Judge won't have stepped in and ordered them to preserve them.

If you read what I wrote, you will see that I commented on what that article said. I didn't comment on what the Bush practice is or is not. I didn't comment on what some other article said.

As to the order, an order to preserve something does not necessarily mean that it has not been preserved. It may be simply a preemptive strike (something many here opposed, ironically enough).

Simply put, I don't know, but the article that MP cited did not state what MP said. That's all.

Please be more careful to read what was said before responding.

No judicial oversight or a warrant is required for wiretapping under the Patriot Act. It superceded the earlier FISA law.
