This just sounds double minded to me. First they say the parent has every right to get rid of an unborn child if they don't want it, but after its born the parents have no control over their internet access, or other contents offered to them inside school and everyday society...Maybe abortion would be the only time of power the adult has, then she sends the child off with his/her ipod, psp, and nordstrom shopping bag? It still sounds like either the parents or the counterculture should be fighting over this....

Though I've made it clear that I'm against elective abortions as a rule, I think the analogy you presented doesn't quite work. One could argue that conservatives are doubleminded, because they say "the parent has no right to get rid of an unborn child, but after its born the parents have total control over their internet access, etc".

I don't think one view is any more double minded than the other. I obviously don't agree with one of those views, but that doesn't mean it's double-minded.

The difference, of course, is the fact that the conservative POV takes the stance that parents will make good and loving choices for their children, and not actively seek to harm them or murder them. In both cases, (choosing life and choosing what is best for their child to read, participate in after birth), the parent is showing love for their child. There is no love in murdering the unborn.
