I believe in Jesus Christ who is able and will keep that which I have committed unto Him against that day.

I believe I was sealed with the Holy Ghost of promise from the moment I believed and that means my Salvation is secure.

    Joh 3:16-17 (KJKV1611 Edition):
For God so loued ye world, that he gaue his only
begotten Sonne: that whosoeuer beleeueth in him,
should not perish, but haue euerlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Sonne into the world
to condemne the world: but that the world
    through him might be saued.

Saved = 'not perish, have everlasting life'

OSAS = once saved, always saved -- sounds
very descriptive of what John 3:16 is saying.

    Jesus saves.
    Baptism don't save.
    Church membership don't save.
Massive amounts of good works don't save.
    Jesus saves.

I looked up the word believeth (John 3:16) in the greek and it is very interesting to find that we have to believe in the present tense...After a person becomes saved and becomes a child of GOD they will always believe in this present life and those that profess JESUS as thier LORD and saviour and dies in thier unbelief will NOT have eternal life.

If a person turns away form thier salvation, then we have to ask: Where they ever saved to begin with?

It's a belief of the heart (Rom. 10), not just the belief of head knowledge.

RE: Do u believe in O.S.A.S

    AMEN!! PREACH IT BROTHER!!!

To me, I just can't see it any other way. Christian means "Christ"-like. If you are Christ-like, you won't lose it. Don't get me wrong, none of us is perfect, or won't do things that will make us stumble, but any Christian has that inward "check" that tells them not to do things they once did. You will love the things you once hated, and hate the things you once loved. If you say you are saved, but continually do the same old sinful things, I don't think you have what you think you do.

You know, nearly every time i've had a discussion with someone on this topic who was against the idea of eternal security, it usually went this way, "Well, i know what the Bible says, but...".
What "BUT" is there? Especially in light of what the Bible says?!?!?!?
If the Bible says there is eternal security for the believer...END OF DISCUSSION! No "but" necesssary!:BangHead:

Yes, that was what I was referring to since that was the question. I wish people wouldn't use abbreviations that many of us don't understand.

Also, yes I do believe in "once saved, always saved". If we have to go through life worrying and wondering if we did something to lose our salvation, how effective can we be for the Lord? What assurance can we give to others? One bad thought, one lie can cause us to lose it. Do we say to others, "Accept Christ, and you will be given eternal life that lasts until you sin again." ?

I prefer to believe in a God who has the power to keep us saved. His Holy Spirit lives within me, and He has promised He will NEVER leave me nor forsake me. That is a promise I can count on, and it assures me that I will NOT lose my salvation. Our parents didn't disown us when we did wrong, but they corrected us. Is God any less loving and caring? He will correct us and not disown us.

click on the '1' that voted.
You will find out who he is.
    These votes are NOT secret.

I'll give you a clue why I voted like I did
(it was NOT my only vote, this was also
    a multiple vote poll :) )

    Here is the correct reading:

    Romans 10:9 (KJV1611 Edition):
That if thou shalt confesse with thy mouth the Lord Iesus,
and shalt beleeue in thine heart,
that God hath raised him from the dead,
    thou shalt be saued.

    Here are some incorrect readings:

    Romans 10:9 (KJV1611 Edition):
That if thou shalt confesse with thy mouth the Lord Iesus,
and shalt beleeue in thine heart,
that God hath raised him from the dead,
    and believe in thine heart in OSAS;
    (then) thou shalt be saued.

    Romans 10:9 (KJV1611 Edition):
That if thou shalt confesse with thy mouth the Lord Iesus,
and shalt beleeue in thine heart,
that God hath raised him from the dead,
    and never buy into the OSAS heresy;
    (then) thou shalt be saued.

So one's believe regarding Security of the Believer
does not matter in the all important
subject of personal salvation. OSAS is true and people
who don't belive they are Secure in Christ are covered
by the OSAS (if they ever got saved).

I think a more accurate way of saying this is the perseverance and preservation of the saints.

I don't suppose it matters as much that we are sure that we're saved as much as it matters that we ARE. Still, I wouldn't want to go through life after realizing my unworth before the Lord always hoping and wondering if I'm saved. We are told in 1 John 5:13 that we may KNOW that we have eternal life. God said it, and that settles it for me.:godisgood:
