Do we need a literary translation of the Majority Text?

    The KJV is the best translation of the Bible, with respect to literary value. But it is based on the Received Text, and if the most accurate text is the Majority Text, and not the Received Text, then should we not have a literary equivalent in English for it? How is it that the most elegant translation of the Bible that we have in English is not even the closest thing we have to the Word of God. Certainly, the Bible being the Word of God, would we not want it to sound like it? We have a Bible that sounds like the Word of God, but if the MT is more accurate than the RT, then that Bible is not fully the Word of God, and the English Bibles we have which are closest to the Word of God do not fully sound like it. Should not the Word of God have perfect accuracy as well as style? Or is our English tongue unsuitable for such a translation?

    Description
    The Byzantine Text Version follows an “optimal equivalence” philosophy of translation, employing a literary style that is reminiscent of the Tyndale-King James legacy while flowing smoothly and naturally in modern English. It is translated from the Byzantine (Majority) Greek text edited by Robinson and Pierpont.

    The Text-Critical English New Testament is an edition of the Byzantine Text Version that documents translatable differences found in eleven editions of the Greek New Testament, including Nestle-Aland, SBL, Tyndale House, Editio Critica Maior, Westcott-Hort, Scrivener, Stephanus, Family 35, Hodges and Farstad, the Greek Orthodox Church text edited by Basileios Antoniades, and Robinson and Pierpont's alternate Byzantine readings. Translatable differences between the K and Αν manuscript families in Revelation are also documented. Manuscript percentages are listed for variants that have been fully collated.

    Why is the KJV is the most eligant?

    Probably the same reason Shakespeare is vastly more elegant than John Grisham.

    Why is the KJV not as accurate a translation?

    Probably the resources the translators had at hand, coupled with relying on previous translations, now antiquated language, and influences by its sponsors (granted, all translations are influenced by the leanings of their translators and editors...not maliciously).

    Why is one source better than another?

    There are differences, and each has arguments supporting their use.

    Either way, we have the Word of God.

    There are very few Majority Text, Byzantine Text English Translations out there. There is a need for what some feel to be the most accurate Greek Text to be translated accurately.

    We have the Textus Receptus represented by the KJV/NKJV and the older Versions (Tyndale, Coverdale, Matthew, Geneva, Great and Bishops Bibles). All the newer versions translated from the Nestle/Aland, Greek New Testament, NIV, NASB, ESV, to many to name.

    So a few that represents all of the Greek Manuscripts in Existence would be a logical goal.
