Here's the grind, brothers: No nation today will ever be like Israel of ancient times.

Israel was chosen by God, had His special love on them and so religiously and politically the rulers were expected to be God's rulers.

No other nation has been handpicked by God as Israel was, not even America.

So when we speak of America as a Christian nation, whatever that means, it is not in the same sense of ancient Israel.

This is what I've noticed, I know more about Islam than most muslims, if muslims actually understood the Koran then they would leave Islam straight away (except for the poor souls indoctrinated from birth into the most extreme hatred that can be found by some of them), but muslims in general are very ignorant not only about the Koran but about most things.
Also many muslims are more like cultural muslims, kinda like the numerous cultural Christians out there, better known as Christians in name only.

    Welcome to BB,

Can you give us a few examples of what you're talking about?

    Correct TCG,
America will always reflect the culture of its people. Right now her people are driven like the waves of the sea, to and fro without purpose. A people without a shepherd. I do not foresee an American future that is overtly religious in the classic sense, however I do see an America divided, not along boarders as it was in 1860- 1865, but in ideology and rhetoric.
If only America were to experience an 1860 event again, you might just see its people turn to God. And when they do its Govt will reflect its people's culture.

    Why thank you.

Examples of what specifically? That most muslims are cultural muslims? Just as most Christians are just cultural Christians?
All muslims I know personally are just muslim in name, kinda like most of the Christians I know here in Socialist Land.
These are people that don't read their respective book at all.
One could perhaps call them secular muslims / secular Christians.
While I see that the committed Christian could any day of the week destroy the weak religion known as Islam with just mere words.
It's not a faith that packs much sense nor does it pack much ammunition.
Mainly distortions and lies from a devil possessed man.

While I tend to see the muslims that actually do their religious works are alot like the Hare Krishna cult where they have the same prayer repeated over and over,
remember that Lord Jesus warns about this practice:
Matthew 6:7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

The muslims do that 5 times a day, the same prayer over and over and the Hare Krishna cult does it over 100 times a day.
What one could call praise/prayer robots.
So apparently there's danger of brainwashing in this practice and would explain the common practice of seething among muslims, also that any critique of the death cult leads to violence or threat of violence.

Don't know if that what was you wanted to know, but that's how I see it.

Oh and to answer the question of the TS, no I don't agree with Colson, I don't see muslims as very good at their own book. Many of them don't even seem to know that many verses have been abrogated. But since there's no real structure to their book it's no wonder they don't know.

Well, your example is one of prayer and since we really can't gauge a person's individual prayer life, I don't think prayer is the best example here to show the disparity.

A devotion to forms without a right relationship with God is nothing but the monster of Legalism, whether in Islam, Hinduism or Christianity.
