No, anyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. I do beleive it is important what a church teaches, some don't even preach the gospel anymore. Do you think they are a church in the eyes of God? Or do you think God has removed their candlestick as refered to in Revelations? [IMG]

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved. (Acts 16:31)
Rom.10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Salvation is all of grace. Christ paid the penalty. All who believe in what He did for us on the cross may be saved. (no works involved)

Frank: You seem to be very evasive concerning some of Ruth's queries.
Could you answer these questions for those who may not know you:

    1. Do you belong to a group who calls themselves by the name "Church of Christ?"
    2. Do you believe that only those in the "Church of Christ" will go to Heaven?
Please be specific in your answers.

    DHK:
I answered Ruth's question scripturally. If the answers were vague, perhaps, it is because you did not study the scriptural references. The answer given was based upon the question asked. She asked for a pesonal opinion about faith and going to heaven. My personal opinion is always the SCRIPTURES in all mattters of faith. I posted those for all to see the answer. As I said, the confussion is with men,not the scriptures. Those who will enter eternal glory are those who are IN Christ and faithful unto death. II Tim. 2:10, Rev 2:10.
My question was" How does one get in Christ?" The answer to this question is at the root of the confussion of the religious world today.

Men are confussed for various reasons. Some men are ignorant of the scriptures about how one gets In Christ. Some fail to rightly divide the truth. Some refuse to accept the totality of the evidence. Some are prejudiced by their own false pride.

I will ask you some questions. Can one get to heaven without being IN Christ? If not, why not? Can one get to heaven without being faithful to Christ? If not, why not? Is salvation In Christ or outside Christ? Are the saved his church or do they belong to someone else? When are men saved by faith?

I have stated in my post that I was a Christian. Is. 62:2 Acts 11:26. This means belonging to or of Christ. Those of Christ are the saved. Acts 2:38,47. Those saved are In Christ and are his church. Acts 2:47, Mat. 16:18, Col. 1;12,13, Mat. 19: 23,24, Hebrews 12:23, I Cor. 12:13, Romans 16:16, Acts 20:28, II Thes. 2:1,14.

There is one faith, not many. Eph. 4:4-6.
There is one body his. I Cor. 12:13.
There is one spiritual house his. ITim. 3:15.
There is one authority his. Mat. 28:18.
There is one standard his word. John 12:48.
There is one way his way. Mat. 7:13,14.
There is one church purchased with is blood. Acts 20:28.
There is one name for salvation. Acts 4:12.
There is one New Name God named. Is. 62 :2,Acts 11:26.

If one makes rational conclusions from the totality of the evidence, he makes the conclusion that Christ does not support or authroize the common religious belief of plural universalism.

I have answered your two questions from the word of God. However, since you do not seem to understand the scriptural answers, let me make it as clear as the word clear could ever be clear.

Question One: No, I call myself a Christian as per Isaiah 62:2, Acts 11:26. I am a part of the saved of Christ his body, his church, his house, his assembly. A part of The Faith. Eph. 4:4-6,Acts 6:7; 14:22, Gal.1:23; 3:25, Jude 3. The Church that belongs to or is of Christ Mat. 16:18, Acts 2:38, 47, Romans 16:16.( see above for other descriptions).
Question Two: No, The Bible teaches that only those faithful in Christ will go to heaven. II Tim. 2:10, Rev 2:10, Mat. 25: 23.

God has been "specific" in his answer to your questions. Have a good day. [IMG]

Paul is quite correct in his statement that EVEN THOUGH they have no scripture - YET they show the law written on the their heart. Heb 8 tells us that the New Covenant alone can accomplish that - just as we see in 2Cor3.

So let us take a very careful look at Romans 2 to get the full impact of what Paul is saying

Hey Ruth... I'm new on here.

You are right Ruth. There are many denominations, all of which are man-made barriers to the prayer Jesus prayed to the Father in John 17: "...that they may be one, even as We are..."

Sure, people have many methods of worshipping God - much of it rooted in tranditionalism and formalism - and that's why there are many churches, to accommodate those preferences and convictions. But many of us forget that those are just that - preferences, and some convictions.

I posted a my first 2 posts just the other day on the "Welcome!" board, and I mentioned an Episcopalian Bible study that I'm attending with an Episcopal brother in Christ. Do I believe that he is saved? Yes - I've questioned him and known him. Do I believe that the others are? I don't think so, and that's why I'm going to the Bible study!

And on "once saved always saved" ... The Holy Spirit was given as an earnest, pledge, downpayment, something that cannot be revoked. The Spirit also seals believers until our final redemption. The book of Romans says that "the gifts and calling of God are irrevocable."
"Whoever calls on the name of the Lord will not be disappointed." Take the example of Lot - he was declared righteous even though he lived in Sodom; the angels even came to save him. We are saved through faith; how can we then maintain the same salvation in any other way but the same way we accepted - through faith?

Anyway... just some thoughts. Have a great day!

Person who calls himself, StMartinLuther, believing as you do about baptism how can you call yourself Martin Luther? When he vehemently defended baptismal regeneration and rejected a good number of doctrines you support.

Just a thought: Maybe his name is Martin Luther? He can then be calling himself a 'saint', using the term as the bible defines it? Maybe?

    StMartinLuther can clear it up.

Nope. Salvation is of the Lord, not a product of our belief, our faith, our religious affiliation.
He gifts it to whom He will.

He gifts it (salvation) to whom He will.

He gifts it to all. Not all accept the gift.

There will be people from all religious backgrounds that will be in heaven. The truth of the matter is they will get there the same way I will: by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

That is the only requirement, period.

I also believe that there will be some people whom we (man) think will be in Heaven that will not be there. I am glad that God is the final athority and not the members of this BB.

I rest my case at the mercy of God and his final authority.

No, I don't believe that just members of my faith go to heaven.

If a man confesses with his mouth the Lord Jesus Christ and believes in his heart that God has raised Him from the dead he shall be saved.

Last time I looked there was nothing in their that said,

"Only Charismatics, or only Baptists or only, Catholics, or only Church of Christ, or only Methodists."

Doctrinal issues that are not regarding salvation do not determine salvation.

For example, if I hold a doctrine to be true that disagrees with Baptist Doctrine as long as it is not a "salvation doctrine" then it has no bearing on whether or not I get into heaven nor whether or not my Methodist brother/sister gets into heaven.
