And the utter stupidity of his blog entry referenced above is proof positive that higher education is absolutely necessary for a man to be a pastor or teacher.
He uses the KJV translation of "college" to impugn bible colleges when the text and context have absolutely nothing to do with bible colleges, and his failure to understand is based on his ignorance of both Hebrew and English. "College" in English originally simply meant a "community."
The proper name "Jerusalem" is followed by a modifier, "mishna" meaning "second." The "prophetess" lived in "second Jerusalem." A suburb of Jerusalem outside the north wall of the main city.
Tom, I humbly submit that his translation isn't based on ignorance; but, like others of his mindset, based upon a human, fleshly need to be in charge and in control. Sending members of his congregation off to learn anything outside his limitations threatens that lordship position.
I agree with you. He speaks with hate about a lot of people and a lot of things - if he has to "be all of them" to first hate all of them - he has a huge pile of personalities to accommodate inside of one head.
:)
Satan's method is to condemn others and fill the one who condemns with vitriol, invectives and 'hate' for his fellow man. He never needed to first "be the other person" to then hate them.
When he says "I pray they die and go to hell" he is not speaking about someone's false belief -- he is speaking about the person that Christ died for.
I am an IFB, and we have had two people come to our church that had been listening to Steven Anderson online, as far as I can tell, the man's spirit really is a huge indicator to me of a problem. It seems to me like he thrives on controversy, for example he teaches that the holocaust was a hoax, that sodomites cannot be saved. His spirit and attitude is very reminiscent of James and John when they wanted to call fire down from heaven and Jesus rebuked them saying "ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of". He also teaches replacement theology as well as a mid tribulation rapture. and im sure the list of peculiar false doctrines could go on and on.
He is a heretic that is condemned by those in the circles I am a part of.
I believe mid-trib is error
but I would not argue that this is his primary problem. His main problem is that he has adopted the methods and mindset of the "accuser of the brethren" in his hate-filled attacks.
I have met several IFB Christians and though I differ with their doctrine at certain points -
they do not exhibit the rage and hate that seems to fill Anderson. He would discredit any group he belonged to at this point.
Not wanting to judge him too quickly, I've watched several hours worth of his "sermons", and he actually does teach many things that are technically true/correct, but, as you've noted, his spirit is not one of love, but hate.
