I bought the doggone thing for my convenience...not everyone else's.

I turn mine off at home, meetings, and any other time I don't want to answer. (and am not absolutely needed at a moment's notice)

I generally don't turn it off, but I will put it on silent. That way, whenever I am ready to answer calls, I know if I've missed any calls without having to go through voicemail.

I only have a mobile (that's Brit-speak for "cell phone" :) ) for emergency use, so it is only turned on when I am away from my home. (Hooray! That has got me into the 1000 Posts Club).

Had a mobile here for about 11 years. I think the only time it is turned off is when I am actually in the air on a plane, or I am replacing the phone :) .

We have a home phone so my cell is for traveling and it is usually only turned on when I am away from home.

I do have it on during the week-ends so I can make free long distance calls. I never use my home phone for long distance.

    Exactly!

I said - In meetings and it depends. I've been known to leave it at home.

leave it on but turn to vibrate when I don't want to hear it or just conveniently "forget" it and leave it at home or the church.

I turn mine on when I'm away from home and the family is not with me. This way if they need to reach me, they can. So if I run out shopping, doing errands or am at church working, I have my phone on. I also take it with me horseback riding because oftentimes I'm the only one there and a fall off a 17.1 hand horse (meaning the base of his neck measures 5'9") HURTS. :)

Otherwise my phone is off. Only my husband and kids have my cell number so they'd be the only ones to try to reach me.

I rarely use my cell phone, but I usually have it with me in case I need to use it. More often than not it is either off or on silent. Of coure when I do turn on the ringtone I always forget to turn it back off and it someone will call me as I am doing employee orientation and telling the new hires that I don't want to see or hear their cell phone while they are working.

I turn it off when I'm in church or my Ladies Bible Study. Or whenever I don't want to be bothered. But it's on most of the time.

    Voted at night, but:

Ours is an 'away from home' phone, so when we're home, why leave it on?
Runs the batteries down, talking on it uses minutes.

I'm at home, call me on the land line. Only time the cell in on is when we're walking out the door.

My cell phone is only on when I'm driving or not at home, in case of emergency only.

I usually turn my cell phone off at night and won't even take it into restaurants and movie theaters. I'm not important enough to be available at all hours of the day.

Like you, I almost always have mine with me, but I seldom use it. Last year I used it for about 500 minutes.
