No, not me. Alas, the Holy Spirit did not bless me with the gift of silence [IMG] .

The post was promoted by a pm with which a person stated that he was afraid to post his opinion about something, out of fear of getting his salvation judged, being called a nonbeliever, etc. All we need to to is look at any controversial post and see that there is plenty of this, despite the best efforts of the moderators. Heck, one got a physical threat from a poster here a while back.

In the last few months, it seems that this kind of posting has been more prevalent. Maybe it was the election, maybe not. Dunno.

Anyhoo, I look forward to seeing the results. In the least, we perhaps should reconsider how we treat each other on the board.

None of those but stick in a 'Are you afraid to admit you're not a calvinist' and I could have responded. Did you know one guy told me either I'm a Calvinist and don't know it or I'm not saved!

This person should probably consider contacting the webmaster if they recieved a physical threat. I would even go even further and contact the police and a lawyer.

    What's wrong with that? ;)

Hey, I think those who are not calvinists will be in heaven too, whether they like it or not!

I don't have a problem with the things in the poll because I believe that I agree with most of the people here on those but there are some things that I won't go into because they may be misunderstood.

It's a shame that you have to be secretive about things that are important to you with people who tell you that they're your brothers and sisters in Christ, but I'd be crazy to say half of the things I'd like to.

I think the most personal thing I ever posted was about something that happened to me in the days after Sept 11. For those who don't remember or may not be aware, I was a firefighter/paramedic at the time and a couple of crews from my house and some surrounding houses went to NYC and N. Jersey to cover calls of the houses who were doing rescue and recovery at Ground Zero.

I even got nasty responses for that.

I mentioned once that I met George Carlin when he was filming a movie ("Jersey Girl") next to the post office where my sister works.

The gist of my post was that I met him and that he was very polite. That was all.

I was told that I was bragging about "fellowshipping with darkness" and that I obviously loved foul mouthed comics more than I love the Lord or some such nonsense.

I mentioned once that I sail and fish competitively and that, occasionally, I miss Sunday am services because of it I was told that I was backslidden and in rebellion. Never mind that I still attend three services a week, one of which I help lead.

I won't even go into the responses I've gotten when some people here find out that I play that evil ol' Devil's music.

Basically, I'm the poster boy for "damned if I do and damned if I don't" so, now, I pretty much just try to keep my mouth shut.

John, I couldn't vote in your poll. I'm probably the most hated person on the board because God blessed me with a big mouth. [IMG]

I don't hate you, LE. I think you are wrong about several things. But, then again, there are a few things on which we do agree.

I am not *afraid* to post my views, but I dont say everything I want to say. [IMG]

Its always beating a dead horse - Halloween, Christmas, tongues, KJV, - yall know how it is. I just dont join in some discussions, but its not from fear.

I got blasted once by a person now banned for calling King James "King Jimmy". It was disrespectful and I should know better! The person couldnt believe I'd stoop so low!! whatever.

Couldn't vote - but I don't hold back out of fear. If I don't post it is because as Tater Tot said the issue is a dead horse

Put me in the "I have no secrets due to big mouth syndrome" crowd. [IMG]

I'm the type of person that will not pussy foot around what I'm thinking about a particular subject, or a particular person. It's caused a lot of "foot-in-mouth" moments for me in my life, but I'm still alive, so either I'm not too bad or I'm lucky. :D

There are a lot of things that can not be truly expressed through the computer. Luckily I express better through here because in relaity I will laugh when someone gets mad at me, and I yell when I get mad at them, so this allows me to keep cool while being angry. It also allows me to think about what I'm saying before I hit the 'send' button.

Bottom line, I can't stand liars, or pretentious people, so I'm always the same person whether here on the BB, in church on Sunday mornings, or at the bar Saturday night. (Just kidding...please don't judge me [IMG] )

I don't mid voicing my opinion, and I don't keep secrets well...so don't tell me if you don't want it to be worldwide news within 30 seconds.

BTW, to answer the questions from the poll:

    I AM anti-abortion.

I DO have a problem with evolution.

I DO have a problem with Catholicism.

I DO have a problem with infant baptism.

I DO believe the Flood was a worldwide event.

Anyone else DARE to speak the truth??? ;)

I have noticed that the BB has moved alot more to the IFB type postion in recent months. There seems to be alot more pressure from some other posters to push the ideals of the IFB as opposed to other Baptist groups.

Cessationism, Alcohol, Armianianism. Are all topics that seem to have become rather "touchy". [IMG]

My votes - cards on the table time:-

    I am anti-abortion

I don't have a particular problem with evolution provided it is at least theistic ie: God created it; I'm an agnostic on the interpretation of Gen 1&2

Although I disagree with sacramental soteriology in particular, I would regard a Catholic as my brother/ sister in Christ unless they showed the contrary

I disagree with infant baptism/ baptismal regeneration for the reason above

I'm agnostic on the Flood issue for the reason referred to above

We'll see whether I DO get flamed for my honesty!

    Yours in Christ

    Matt

I have to agree with Bro. James Reed on all of those issues, AMEN James. But I would hope that any who would disagree would still feel free to post their beliefs. The anonymity of the Internet should give us the courage to speak our minds without fear of retribution.

It is pointless to debate some issues and we need to be realistic about our goals. I don't know about the rest of you, but I don't go on BB just to hear other people agree with my opinion. Brother Matt is a great example, we may not agree on Genesis 1 through 6, and I am passionate about what I believe, but I still want to hear his opinions. If I did not want to hear a variety of opinion I would never go on the Board.

There are sometimes that I have refrained from posting. It is pointless to debate some issues and we need to be realistic about our goals. You are never going to change some people and in many debates the facts become irrelevant. There are many times that I think we are beating a dead horse and should just go on to another topic. Also there are times when I have written posts and then never posted them because they got to personal or gave out more information about myself than I was comfortable sharing. But I don't believe I have ever not posted out of fear.

</font>[/QUOTE]I don't think anyone should judge a person's salvation based on whether or not they agree with a MERE MAN! I was very hurt by that remark and probably should have reported it, but didn't.

Here's a thought for everyone. I got it in a devotional today.
