Yep, same here. All I have to do is fill out the form and pay the fee. Obama is absolutely against guns, so we better hurry, before the total lack of balance of power now in place takes our rights.

While I completely understand. I must say our ancestors were in sin.

We must do ALL we can legally do, and nothing more.

It's not a sin to fight for our constitutional right to bear arms.

If our Government passes a gun control law outlawing guns wouldn't that be a "ordinance of man?" And wouldn't "fighting" against them be the opposite of submission?

Sorry, it sounds like DIRECT disobedience to me. Every ordinance, includes the ones I don't like.

I don't know if it's like this throughout the nation, but there's been a run on the gun stores around here. They can barely keep up with the demand and are selling out of just about everything.

I mail ordered some special tactical ammo (ammo designed not to over-penetrate the walls of my home and possibly hurt people outside of the shooting event) for my new shotgun from a company that specializes in ammunition, not firearms, a few days ago and received this notice:

Thank you for your order. Due to the political situation we have seen an extreme increase in orders. We are doing our best to ship out orders A.S.A.P. As it stands now your order will be shipped next Friday. Thank you for your patience.

Self defence (defending ones self, family, and property) is completely legal.

Martin Luther, the great reformer said " I not only have a right to defend my self, but I also have a duty to protect others" I doubt he was speaking about a physical defence but the principle is the same.

ESPECIALLY when our Constitution guarantees our RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS.
Anyone who would make a law against that deserves to be stripped of their citizenship.....ooops, I forgot, he hasn't proved his yet. Many lawsuits are still on the books.

I understand completely where you are coming from, there is NO DOUBT that our Constitution grants us gun rights, BUT the Constitution isn't our Bible. If some nut job lawmaker reverses that right , we as Christians, are commanded to be in submission to all governing authorities.

If there is a verse that even implies otherwise I am completely unaware of it, I must assume that abcgrad94 is also unaware of a Scripture for his position because of lack of response.

First of all, I'm a SHE not a HE. I don't know why I keep having to tell people that. I guess maybe I should have picked a real flowery username like "pinkiepie" or something because several posters have assumed I'm male instead of female!

Anyway, I haven't posted any particular scripture because I'm still looking. So far I haven't found this "word for word" in a verse, but the idea of civil disobedience is mentioned several times in the Bible. For instance, Moses' mother hid her son, and the midwives outright lied to the pharoah about birth's and refused to kill the baby boys.

Queen Jezebel was killed by her own servants. Rahab hid the spies when they came to Jericho. Christians helped hide Jews during WWII.

We are also told that if a man (I think woman applies here as well) doesn't provide for his family, he is worse than an infedel. I believe this applies to safety as well as food and shelter. If I as a mother refuse to protect my own child from true harm, I have no business being a mother. Physically, I am not strong enough to stop a group of men from harming my kids, so I would need a weapon. A firearm happens to be my best choice.

OH, will you please forgive me, I don't know what made me assume you were a he. Please forgive me.

Now what I will say is that it is my conviction that unless a Law (or "every ordinance of man") calls for direct disobedience we are commanded to obey. For instance Murder is direct disobedience, so Moses mother was illegally obeying God, she made the choice (correctly) to obey and trust Him even though it was illegal, similarly, I would not have a problem with illegally smuggling Bibles. But it is not a Biblical command to maintain our right to bear arms. So I have to believe it is sin to fight against a government for disobeying a law that would not cause to sin if I did obey it.

By the way if you'll read my other posts in this thread you will see I am very much for supporting my second amendment right I carry a gun and own many. That is why I say I understand the thinking, I used to say "you'll get my Gun when you pry my cold dead fingers from around it" then I got saved, and read "Therefore submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake, whether to the king as supreme" and I abandoned that ideology.

May the Grace of our Lord be with you.

    Quite all right. You're forgiven.

I understand your reasons for interpreting the verse the way you do, and I respect your opinion. I'll never say never, but God would really have to convict me (personally) about this before I would willingly give up my right to bear arms. Hopefully it's not a decision I'll have to make.

The answer to this 'poll' is "None of anyone's business" but my own, hence, as usual, I willl not answer the poll.

But I will say that I do support fully, the 2nd Amendment to the US Constitution. That Amendment grants me the right to keep and bear arms (as I so choose). That right, by definition, also grants me the right not to keep and bear any arms, by implication.

Hence, both the 'regulations' of some places, such as Skokie, IL, against the posession of handguns, or those of a couple of places in GA that 'require' one to have a handgun, in the home, are clearly UN-constitutional, IMO, for they attempt to remove that option from me, and give it to a government entity.
