I agree. You are a liberal. Your pitting Christ against Paul in the scripture prove it.

TexasSky, Did you notice what I wrote earlier?

"All scripture is inspired by God. So none of it is less than the other. If you do what you advocate then you are taking upon your self to be the judge. That is exactly what liberals and the Jesus seminar has done."

    GB,

I don't think Paul should be ignored.
I think that people should stop ONLY preaching Paul's words.

    I study Paul.
    I teach Paul.

But, more and more of late, I find that certain people NEVER study ANYTHING but Paul.

It is not an attempt to "pit Christ against Paul," to express concern over ignoring the rest of the Bible. It is my believe that ALL of the Bible MUST be studied.

    Joseph,

Again. I feel that your words are full of hate and that there is some kind of personal attack in them. They don't come across to me as discussion. They don't come across as simple disagreement. They come across as personal attacks, and personal insults.

    I do not know why.
I do know that I believe it is un-Christlike behavior.

    Joseph,

Again - I ask you for your statement of faith.
    What do you personally believe?

    1. It is a attempt to pit Christ against Paul to say that we should give more importance to the words of Christ than we do the words of Paul. Furthermore, it is a denial of the fact that since the Words of Paul are also the Word of God, and Christ words as well, that you are pitting Christ against himself. That is pure liberalism of the worst (Jesus Seminar) kind, and it is heretical and offensive.

    2. You can "feel" anything you wish. But all of those emotions are in your mind and have no basis in reality.

This thread is not about me or my general statement of beliefs. If you would like to discuss that, then start another thread about what others general beliefs are, and if I have time, I will respond. Right now, we are discussing your statements (which make up the original post in this thread) that we should give more importance to one part of the Bible than another. Nice try at redirection, though.

    Again

I ask for your statement of belief.

Again - I have stated. I do not intend to pit Paul against Christ. I only wonder why people put more emphasis on Paul's teaching that on the rest of the bible. Why do you insist on taking that as "pitting" the scripture against the scripture?

Once again. What do you believe about Christ?

    Joseph?

Why would any Christian hestiate to answer a question as simple as "What do you believe?"

See my previous post for my response.

Again - I have stated. I do not intend to pit Paul against Christ.
Now, we are perhaps getting somewhere. Although, you might not have intended to pit Paul against Christ, when you made the following statement:

you certainly did do that. Perhaps, you wrote that without thinking about the implications of your words and you would like to retract that statement? I await your response.

Start another thread and stay on topic, and I would be more than happy to respond to it as soon as I can. This thread is not about me, though.

    No Joseph.

I started this thread, and in the thread you made statements, inaccurate, and insulting statements, about my beliefs.

Now, I have asked you, Christian to Christian, to state your beliefs.

You have thrice refused to do so.

I am going to pray for you, and leave it at that.

Does that mean that you stand by your heretical and offensive statement that pits one part of the Bible against the other? Please, try to stay on topic.

Laziness abounds among many to get those folks into church rather than preach the word and knock on people's doors and care for them.

I do know that I believe it is un-Christlike behavior.

Your belief could be totally wrong. That is an unforgiving judgment you make. You do not know Joseph nor have all the facts. So how can you make such a judgment? Directness does not equate to judgmentalism.

In my opinion I think there is so much cultural liberal theology among those who call themsleves conservative they stink and don't even know it. Maybe you do not consider yourself liberal but from what I have read I think you are bordering on some of those tendencies and may not know it. You should be glad and rejoice that someone corrects you whether you think it is nice or not. The Bible says he who hates reproof is stupid.

Too many Christians want sicky sweet pastors to them sweet things instead of hearing it like it really is. Better is open rebuke than love that is concealed.

    George Mueller's Secret:

"There was a day when I died:

    • Died to George Mueller: to his tastes, his opinions, his
    preferences and his will.

    • Died to the world—its approval or censure.

    • Died to the approval or blame of even my brethren and friends.

Since then I have studied only to show myself approved unto God."

    GB,

    I answer to Christ.

    I answer ~ONLY~ to Christ.

I was called a heretic for suggesting people should study the words of Christ.

I am not called a liberal for not rejoicing over that?

I will be very, very, very blunt here GB. And to the others on this board.

When a person claiming to be a Christian is asked, "What do you believe," and the person refuses to answer that statement, for any reason at all - I don't feel that person is in a position with God to be rebuking anyone.

And I think THAT person needs to be rebuked.

I don't know George Mueller, nor do I care what he said.

I know my Lord and Savior.

I know that the "liberal" words you accuse me of are words SPOKEN by my Lord and Savior.

If you think Christ is "too liberal" and "too soft hearted".. well, we disagree greatly.

    Understand - I don't ignore sin.
When people come to me and go, "I'm gay, but God loves me anyway." I tell that person, "God's love for you doesn't mean you should keep sinning."
However - I take the words of Christ very seriously, and Christ told us to love and to forgive. You know, I've gone through my bible cover to cover many times, and I have YET to see God say, "Treat a sinner with hate."

    Back on topic.
I,too, think it is an error to over emphasise Paul while all but dismissing the other writers of Scripture. They got a name for it. "Pauline Dispensationalism". "If Paul didn't teach it, then it isn't for the church".

Personally, I see that kind of thinking/teaching to be rank heresy and bordering on blaspheme.

    In HIS service;

    Jim,

I would go one step further and state for the record that anytime you emphasize any part of scripture over another, you are guilty of heresy. All Scripture is the Word of God and equal in value as such.

Slander. You were called a heretic for suggesting that Christians should place more importance on one part of scripture over another. Perhaps, that is not what you intended to say, but it is indeed what you said. Would you like to retract your heretical statement?

I am not called a liberal for not rejoicing over that?
Huh?

I will be very, very, very blunt here GB. And to the others on this board.
Off topic and irrellevant. If you want to know what I believe, then start another thread. You need to try to stay on topic in this thread though. This thread is not about me, although I understand why you are trying to make it so since you got caught in a heretical statement and now you don't want to own up to it.

And I think THAT person needs to be rebuked.
Off topic and irrelevant.

I don't know George Mueller, nor do I care what he said.
That is pretty obvious on both counts.

I know my Lord and Savior.
Vain Babbling. What about the topic of the thread. Would you like to retract your heretical statement?

I know that the "liberal" words you accuse me of are words SPOKEN by my Lord and Savior.
Please quote for me chapter and verse where Christ admonished us to favor one part of the Bible over another. This ought to be good.

If you think Christ is "too liberal" and "too soft hearted".. well, we disagree greatly.
Nope. He is not too liberal. But, that has nothing to do with this conversation.

    Understand - I don't ignore sin.
When people come to me and go, "I'm gay, but God loves me anyway." I tell that person, "God's love for you doesn't mean you should keep sinning."
Do you know how to stay on topic, or do you like to just talk to hear yourself talk?

However - I take the words of Christ very seriously, and Christ told us to love and to forgive. You know, I've gone through my bible cover to cover many times, and I have YET to see God say, "Treat a sinner with hate."
But, somehow, you were able to find where God told you to place more importance on one part of scripture over another? Please show me this. I seem to have missed it.

Hoping to return this thread to topic and interupt the personal squabble taking place.

Having not encountered this Pauline worship described here I have a hard time comprehending it. Could you share with us TS some concrete examples of those who elevate Paul above Christ?

All scriptures have equal weight, all are breathed by the Holy Spirit. Paul's words therefore carry equal weight with Christ's words. In that regard he is far more than a 1st century Billy Graham How do we know that? Jesus said that the Holy Spirit would guide us into all truth. He did that by giving us the written word of God and He does that by illuminating that Word to us today.

I disagree that we should interpret all scriptures based on the words of Christ. We should interpret all Scripture with all other Scripture.

People are different. Their intellects think differently and their emotions feel differently and their wills react differently.

Each part of the NT is written in a very different style, manner, purpose. The Gospels are different than the history, the letters or the apocalypse.

The Gospels - words of Jesus included - are in story and parable, sprinkled with a few straight-foward sermons. Much of the OT is the same Hebrew thinking.

The Epistles - esp. Paul - are in straightfoward didactic logical teaching. This is for the Greek (Western) mind. It exlains and clarifies the word pictures of the Gospel.

Now for me, I find the Epistles MUCH better for preaching/teaching as this was their purpose in writing. I will use the Gospels to illustrate.

But for someone else, it may be the other way around. Remember, ALL Scripture is fully and equally inspired. Not all equal "inspiring" though.

You may enjoy or learn better from one part than from another. But if you say one part is better, etc, you have gone into false doctrine. Beware.
