What exactly is the DOC church. I see them around and I have seen some written on here about them. Are they a sound church?

    Thanks

    Hey Brother,

The DOC is the Disciples of Christ also known as the Christian Church. They are a bit different from Baptists in general with some of their doctrine. I know the biggest thing is on the issue of eternal security. I preached at one for a short time while their church was seeking a minister.

    In Christ,

    Lawson,

Here's a link to their main site.

As far as the deeper parts of the faith, I am not sure. However, they are like alot of other traditions where some of the beliefs may differ between churches. i.e., some may be liberal, conservative, etc. They are our brothers and sisters in Christ if that is what you wanted to know.

Not sure. I would say no, atleast not the two here. They are between moderate and liberal. There was a big debate a while back on allowing homosexuals to join and be active with their "partners". I would check into it really deeply. Why can't your wife go to a Baptist church? Seems that you have a history in the Baptist church since you're a member of the board and all. They may not have communion every week but she will hear the Word of God.. I hope all goes well with you.

    In Christ,

    Brooks

It is impossible to say things with complete certaintly about the Disciples, though untangled seems to be on the right track.

As a denomination, they are fairly moderate and ecumenical. Of course, because they have no confession or statement of faith, every church can be different.

They practice believers' baptism but accept non-immersion as valid as well.

I did a search last year when DOC was mentioned and found the 'what we believe' pages for some DOC's in Georgia. SUPER liberal!
