Does anyone believe Mary Winkler (President Bush, Billy Graham, St Paul . . . )?

Does the subject of the preceeding question change the meaning of the verb, "believe?"

A better question would be; do we assume people are truthful or beleive what they are saying, or do we simply choose to assume they are lying? This irrespective of searching for the truth ourselves, as the case with politics.

    take care:jesus:

I guess my question would be: do you believe there is such a thing as "the basic goodness of man" ?

    No disrespect.

But I personally always take what most of what most people say with a pinch, if not a grain, of salt.

    It's a fallen world.

I actually do, but only to a point. When "basic goodness of man" goes up against "self-interest of man", "self-interest of man" often wins.

I wouldn't assume or call a man a liar unless I knew different. I would also hope to be educated enough to avoid gullibility. Let me change educated to "wise".

    take care.:wavey:

    another failed thread

Was trying to make the point that the word, "believe," has become meaningless as used in modern usage. Trying to illustrate how sloppy words leads to sloppy thinking. Like the car I saw with an "I Love Jesus" bumper strip between two "I love Rainier Beer" bumper strips.
