    There will always be a living generation who profess themselves to be wise-----when the professors die off one by one---the coming generation will take up the baton and carry on the endless foolishness of the spiritless profession---until the Lord Jesus comes and burns every shred of brag from the hearts of every person who makes the profession

    Give me a break, Matt!!!:sleep::sleep:

    It is not I that should give you a break Blackbird. God causes all things, so if I have offended you in some way, God has offended you. If anyone brags of their intellectual capabilities, then God has caused them to brag. Their bragging will bring glory to Him, because it pleases Him.

    If I was jesting it was only because God caused me to jest. God is the cause of all things.

    Matt, I can see now why you have embraced reformed theology. No responsibility, no accountability, and no matter what you do, good or evil, it all glorifies God.

    Now I see why this doctrine is so popular today.

    Yes, you are correct. Calvinism is awesome like that! I know that everything I do is caused by God and it pleases Him for His glory. Everything has a purpose in His glorious plan and He is the supreme puppet master, guiding, directing, and causing every action. Occasionally I do something that is deemed "sinful", and then I remember that God, in His infinite wisdom, caused me to do it. So, then I realize it was actually good to do it! How wonderful!

    There are intellectual overtones expressed in the people who push Calvinism for sure. But what is even more apparent is the result that comes with such knowledge, and not just from the Calvinist camp but also from others, and that is pride. Knowledge puffs up. Makes one behave unseemly. Somebody give me an AMEN!

    Amen, pride is abhorrent to God. A very difficult temptation for any of us.
