    Straightforward Scripture and basic reality match perfectly.

    It's when those who trust men's minds more than God's Word and actual data try to reinterpret both of the latter that there is a lot of trouble.

    The Bible is telling it like it is and was, clearly, straightforwardly, concisely.

    As Phillip said, making excuses for it is to be ashamed of it.

    I'm not saying that you're in trouble with God, if you try to make Genesis literal.

    But it is an interpretation, and one that is not held by most Christians.
