Well, unless you count the Progressive Party which finished second in 1912 and the American Independent Party which garnered 46 electoral votes. Both of those would seem somewhat successful.

But I don't either God or Satan supported those parties either. Satan has his talons in both parties, thats why abortion is still legal and the morality fo the US is gone down the drain. We have been basically Republican run since the 70s and what good has it done us?

The GOP use morality and abortion as fancy baubles to allure the religious right, but they never deliver.

This whole thread really has me about decided to go back to "I don't know what to do in November."

Maybe, if Satan did support a party, he would support the one that keeps the religious right happy with their rhetoric, but does nothing of substance. That way he has the best of both worlds - he gets his way and Christians wave their flags and sing "God Bless America."

I was pointing out the platform of both major parties.

The Republican controlled Congress in 2003 enacted this:

A step in the right direction. At least it's a step until we can replace some Supreme Court appointments. With the Democrats in power, there would be no step in a direction to save even one unborn baby's life.

And please note it was mostly Democratics who voted "nay" and the 3 (all Democrats) who didn't vote: Biden, Kerry, Edwards.

The facts don't lie, Roger. There they are. The Democrats are the Party of Death.

So how many babies are still dying every year? Its been 35 years, many of them Republican controlled, and abortion is still legal in every state.

    Both parties are baby-killers.

Law makers, in both parties regardless of their own deep down personal beliefs, know there is nothing they can do about abortion. But they also know they can use the issue to their own personal ambitions.

For heavens sake, quit acting as if the government is going to prevent this from happening.

This is why I question an issue like this being the sole issue to vote on....because your attitude slowly become dependant on legislation as opposed to the gospel.

I think the church has a greater chance of reducing abortions than the government.

While you call the pro-life politicians liars and dishonest I insist the dishonesty is yours. Pro-life politicians do not in fact know nothing can be one about abortion. This is a lie perpetrated by those like yourself who need to sooth their guilty conscience over supporting a candidate who supports the slaughter of children before and after birth for any reason without limit.

    R. v. W will e overturned. It was based on a false claim where their was no actual injury as we now know by the one who brought the law suit. It is an unconstitutional ruling that will find trouble standing against a real challenge. It is just a matter of time.

So we are back to accusing me of supporting Obama again?

35 years on and both parties are still the parties of slaughtering innocent children, both parties ore parties of death, in that regard Satan controls both parties.

I want something done about abortion - not empty words to placate the masses of the religious right.

You would think that the church should do more than the government in regards to issues such as poverty and making moral decisions.

Just think, if abortion were legal as it is today, but more and more people refused to make such a decision based on a change in their life.

I'm not sure if your other comment was directed towards me, or not, but I'm not supporting a pro-choice candidate. I just can't stand it when people go so over the top as to label a specific party as the "party of death", painting a picture as if they know everyone in the party. It is the perfect example of a Christian acting like the politicians who rely on name calling and smears.

No it isn't. I posted the voting record on the partial birth abortion ban, I posted the Democratic party plank that states they want Roe v Wade. Your comment is a perfect example of a Christian making off the wall comments without looking at the facts and then shifting blame to the messenger instead of the message. The Democratic Party has been known as the "party of death" because of their own agenda of pro-abortion. I didn't make that up, it's the label they have painted with their own blood-stained hands because of their humanistic dispicable anti-God agenda when it comes to homosexual marriage and genocide of the unborn.

.....I'm not sure if I'm misunderstanding what you're getting at, or not.

In the current state of our politics....RvW is not going to be changed anytime soon. McCain won't change it....Obama for sure won't change it.....I think RIGHT NOW the best way to decrease abortions (whether it is legal or illegal) is for the church to do what we're suppose to do by BEING the church in the world.

Along with that, I think more opportunities for people to see their other options, so they understand that there are more, and better, options than abortion (even though it is sick that it is even an option), will aid in people making better decisions. I think this will do more to reduce abortions than for always voting for a republican.

What I am getting at, and I wasn't trying to be intentionally illusive, is that while some claim the church has a greater chance to influence abortion many of those same people claim we need the government to address poverty. Which is quite inconsistent. I was wanting to know if this is your position as well.

I think it is good for government to do what it can....but I think the appropriate reflection of God would be for the church to stick out like a sore thumb when it comes to giving to the poor.
