Does the act of baptizing someone carry authority over them?

    The Church has the Authority to Baptize. In Baptist Life that means the Local Baptist Church has been authorized to perform that ordinance. So in a sense the Church does have authority over those whom they Baptize.

    That authority would be made apparent through subsequent Church Discipline.

    The first Baptist was not baptized by a Baptist.
