Due to federal regulations - auto manufacturers are required to meet certian MPG standards.

So one way to attain that is to lighten the load - one possibility is to sell the car without a spare tire.

    From ABC news

Is this one regulation that you would like to see President Trump cancel out?

Been going on several years. With most manufacturers you can have the tire installed by the dealer. Dealer options don't affect the cafe rating.

I purchased my first new vehicle ever, a Honda CRV, this past September.
It came with a full sized spare, standard.
    It's been averaging 31 mpg.

I was considering an Audi, Mercedes, or BMW recently. I can't recall which (I think it was Audi), but one just had a can of Fix-A-Flat! BMW had run-flat tires.

Great car. I wish I bought it, but I went with the Outback instead because we have a steep driveway and live in a snow belt.

Out of vehicles that I've bought new?

Then, no, my motorcycle didn’t come with a spare tire.

The medical community calls them donor-cycles.
Drive safely my friend and stay away from teenage girls on their cell phones.

My Ram 1500 truck came with a full size spare.
My wife's Dodge Charger came with a compact spare.

Would I like to see MPG standards canceled? No. It's one of the few (non-safety) government regulations that I support.
If it's important to them buyers should find out if the new car they are thinking of buying has a spare tire.

My 2015 Dodge van did not come with a spare tire. I see no problem if I get a flat where there is good cell phone service, but if I am in a rural area when it happens I am in big trouble.

AAA will put you on a flatbed, and "tow" you to a garage where you can get it repaired or replaced.

Simple - no spare and the dealer won't provide one - walk out of the dealership to another.

    It's not a dealer issue. It's a manufacturer issue.

Run-flat tires will take you 50-60 miles. IMO that's good for those within city limits, but not so good for people who live in rural areas.

OK but i am going to make it a dealer issue - get me a full size spare or I go elsewhere.

Why worry about a flat tire? You need more faith, Hank. ;);)

yes, oh ye of little faith. :)

Actually the last flat tire I had one of my grandsons came to our rescue.
We called AAA but they said "Uh, sometime this evening, an hour or two, maybe more"

Not that his grandmother and I didn't know how to change a flat, we both have the usual arthritis, etc...
