    “Secretary of Defense Robert Gates announced major cuts to defense spending including reducing the budget for the Missile Defense Agency by $1.4 billion. Gates said he does not propose to increase the number of ground-based interceptors in Alaska as had been planned.”

    With North Korea desperately trying to develop an intercontinental ballistic missile system “bo” is reducing the Missile Defenses planned for Alaska. Is this the response of “bo” to Sarah Palin for having the audacity to challenge him. He is willing to put the Hawaii, Alaska, and the West Coast in danger! But we have already seen what happened to the secure bond holders of Chrysler and GM for challenging “bo”s bankruptcy plan for those two companies.

    He served as Deputy Director of Central Intelligence from 1986 until 1989 and as Assistant to the President and Deputy National Security Adviser at the White House from January 20, 1989, until November 6, 1991, for President George H.W. Bush.

    The next republican President will again have to play catch-up on defense spending...

    if possible after Obama bankrupts the nation.

    Frankly I believe that democrats/leftists just can't bring themselves to admit that Reagan was correct on SDI! Therefore, even if it puts the country in danger they don't want to deploy it.

    This is in keeping with Obama's preferred method of dealing with agressors against the U.S. - preemptive surrender - "Please, don't hurt us."

    Not sure if you realize this, even if he committed a trillion dollars for missiles in AK they won't receive one missile in time to help with this crises.

    This says if AK was secure under Bush, they are still secure today and will be just as secure tomorrow. I know Palin is making a big deal out of this but it seems she doesn't know how it works. The money spent today buys a missile years from now.

    Don't worry, the GOP doesn't mind deficit spending if it's for defense. The question is do we just spend on defense for the sake of spending on defense or do we buy things we can use or need? When you look at some of the things they cut, like Obama's new fleet of helicopters, I think you can plainly see that a lot of defense spending was not money well spent.

    However, America has been very secure since the Soviet threat. We are more secure today than we were back then so I really don't see a reason for fear.

    it would really help discussions if you libbies would just be honest. Every time a libbie gets in office the defense of this country has to be rebuilt and it is always left as a vast wasteland from libbie destruction. And by the way the balanced budget of the 90's was a republican thing not a Clinton thing.But then of course you know that already.
