I just heard it on the news. No details as of yet beyond this, but rescuers are on the scene.

This is the second time the Union campus has been hit with a devastating tornado. The first time, if I remember right, was 2003. Several million dollars damage. This one appears to be as bad or worse.

Thanks to a merciful God, there were injuries but no deaths on campus as far as is know. Two people died near the campus, according to reports.

My heart goes out to the folks at my Alma Mater.

I read today that President David Dockery estimated the damage at 45 million dollars.

I also learned today that a longtime friend and neighbor of my mother's--and my friend as well--Mrs. Alma Baker, was one of the two people killed in the tornado west of Jacison. All of a sudden this became very personal.

I'm sorry to hear that. I pray that God will comfort her family and friends, and I pray that God will help all those involved in this disaster.

According to Dr. Dockery, 40% of the dorms were destroyed, and another 40% were severely damaged. That's 80% of the dormitory housing. I can't even fathom how difficult this task is going to be.
