Hey Einstein, if your going to insult me, at least learn how to spell. Did you even go to college? How about High School? Doesn't seem like it.

What is truly ironic is that you claim to be a pastor, yet you don't know very much about how to communicate using the English language.

Maybe you need to take the time you use here and learn the tools of your trade. :laugh:

You have nothing of substance to add so you focus on typos. that has no reflection on me.

 

While I oppose censorship, I agree with the sentiment expressed. Regardless of the position one takes on the war, those called to fight it deserve to be honored for their heroism, their courage, and their service to our country.

 

Is the full range of your "debate skills" on display with this post, Terry?

So, tell me again why people have to subject themselves to getting killed to learn the truth about the military and the war. I know the truth. This war isn't just.

 

Right now, people don't have to serve but, if they choose to do so, then they'll probably find out the truth to which I'm referring. Until then they can only speculate about it.

Maybe a few of those they haven't can still somehow get it right but, most likely, they don't. For the most part, their view will be shaped by the very small fragments of information they get from the major news media. That will probably be focused on dramatic and spectular events that sell news to the exclusion of all else and often with a specific anitwar agenda. I hear and see it very often.

My point is that those who actually serve - especially in combat - do attain a certain reality about it. They have experienced the ultimate truth of war. They'll never forget it and they have a special bond with all the rest who've also experienced it. The views vary - everyone has their own "six inch" view - yet there's still a common majority thread between most of them. I hear and see it very often.

Regardless, I'm not one that argues only those who've served are entitled to an opinion. Possession and expression of opinions are a reality of our freedom and apply to everyone. Opinions may be worth considering.

This war is both completely just and completely legal.

 

The "ultimate truth of war" is that the United States hasn't been engaged in a war since WW2. We've been engaged in the act of intervening as a bipartisan policy known as interventionism.

Excellent post. That is something I need to work on. I never realized how much opinions about war from non-veterans irked me until I started on this board. I appreciate your steady and balanced outlook.

 

Thanks! I sure don't feel worthy of such a compliment because I often "loose my cool" or make harsh comments when it comes to issues about the military and war. I think all of us that have been there can have intense feelings on those subjects and given the right trigger those feelings are likely to come out. That's a challenge we all face and all need to work on. I'm surely among the worst at handling it properly. I appreciate your many sensible postings.

 

You should really be angry when Cheney talks about the war then, since he was too busy to serve!
