You are saying that it is God electing on the basis of His foreknowledge that man will elect himself. You could not be more wrong!

You can say all the fancy words you want to, doesn't mean a thing. God is not impressed with flattery.

Isa 29:13 Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:

Here Isaiah the prophet speaks of men who honor God with their mouth, but with their hearts follow the false doctrines of men.

Foreknowledge is a natural attribute of God and not a governing factor.

    Romans 8:29-30

For whom he did foreknow , he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
30Moreover whom he did predestinate , them he also called : and whom he called , them he also justified : and whom he justified , them he also glorified .

If God intended for mankind to be saved by their choice of Him, and not by His choice, then He surely went through a lot of work for nothing. Yet the Bible, in the New Testament, clearly reveals that eternal salvation and redemption is all OF the Lord, and none of man, and whom He redeemed, them only have the hope of heaven because of Christ. And as Romans 8:29-30 shows you, none will slip out of the cracks, neither can any who are not intended to be among the elect slip in.

The man who today is in unbelief, can turn to Christ the next day, because of the Holy Spirit's work of regeneration, and not because of that man's belief.

I am sore amazed at how so many on this board will grant God power, honor, glory and sovereignty except over the matter of salvation.
In that, so many on this board, jealously guard their pride and pretentious humility.

The false doctrine of men is that they are able to save themselves by their own free will. The will of unregenerate man is not free; it is in bondage to sin and Satan. Jesus Christ Himself said: If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.[John 8:36]

One thing Jesus Christ was freeing us from was the mistaken belief that we can save ourself, a lie that must spring from the father of liars, Satan.

    Winman,

You continually refuse to answer the question I asked above.
Why do you refuse to say what made you different from those who remain in unbelief?

God's foreknowledge is based on his foredetermination..Berkhof in his text on theology. Hence, it is more than knowing ahead of time. It is predetermined according to His own purpose and end. Pleanty of sacripture to support this, but people always fall back on to verses that talk about foreknowledge.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Not that you will believe it but according to the following Scripture:

    1. God has chosen us that we should be holy and without blame before him in love.
    2. God has chosen and predestined us:
2a. Unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, and
2b. According to the good pleasure of his will.
2c To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein,
    3. God hath made us accepted in the beloved.

    Ephesians 1:3-6
    3. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
    4. According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
    5. Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
    6. To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

You see that we are elected According to the good pleasure of his will. In case you are curious as to how God made us accepted in the beloved, Jesus Christ, then you might study Ephesians 2:1-6.

Actually he did if you will read Romans 8:28-29 and if you will rid yourself of your Arminian bias.

    28. And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
    29. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
    30. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

You might notice that He, God, does it all; predestinate, called, justified, glorified.

Paul also tells us in Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

You might also notice that Jesus is the Author and Finisher of our Faith!

You will not believe unless the Holy Spirit first Regenerates you and gives you the Gift of Saving Faith. That is a Biblical fact. Your pride may not allow you to accept that truth. So much the worse for you.

Scripture tells us: Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. [Proverbs 16:18]

Rev you say in a peevish tone!
Please note that I was not responding to a verse you quoted. I was responding to the following:

What started as a testimony to God's goodness and grace in election very soon descends to an argument.

This non-Cal is still thankful for God's election.

But what fun is Baptist Board if not for that ?
    That's why it's for Baptists.
Ask one question, get ten different answers.
    :tongue3:

just curious, how does a non-Cal view God's election and be thankful ?

That's a good question. Since they believe that they are responsible for their salvation and they insist that a decree from God has nothing to do with it. Maybe they are thankful that they had that special ability, insight, self-determination, strength of character or unique power of discernment that the non-elect simply don't possess.
