Negative Ghost Rider. The majority of the SBC member churches are fundamental. We need to purge the Liberals. Call it what you wish.

Remember when Rogers chaired the BF&M2000 Committee? Recall the irenic pledges they made to secure messengers' approval of that document:

    Baptist Press, June 14, 2000

"...on the new BFM’s stance against women serving as senior pastors. 'We would never presume to tell another church whom they may call as a pastor or tell another person whether or not they may serve as pastor,' Mohler said. 'We’re not trying to force our beliefs on someone else'."

"Committee members cautioned...against misunderstanding Baptist polity, noting that the convention’s vote is not binding on local churches. 'We don’t have the right, the authority or the power to limit anybody,' Rogers noted. “We would resist that. What we are stating is what we believe mainstream Baptists believe....It is not a creed. It is a statement of what most of us believe."

My son is SBC pastor doing church planting. Cannot get NAMB support - that $$$ goes to inner city Chicago (he's inner city Rockford - worse crime rate per capita) and sees money pour into projects with ZERO results. I warned him of the SBC issues and it is in spades in Illinois.

Annual meeting in Salt Lake City? Let's pour the millions of dollars a convention generates into the Mormon coffers, not Charlotte.

At least they won't have to give local big-shot SBC (there aren't any) the microphone like they did in California.

Is that the decision of NAMB or the Ill State Convention?

I don't know. I'm a REAL Baptist, not lackey to a convention or bureaucracy. :)

The SBC will not split, it will disintegrate over the next few years. No doubt. Mostly because the churches became lazy and flippant with scripture and now the world is in the church. To be sure, there are a lot of good Bible believing churches left, but the swing to woke false theology is done. SBC churches baptize homosexuals and it is only getting worse. The memberships knowledge of scripture is so weak that deacons and elders are helpless to hold the pastor accountable. Stick a fork in it.
